A few days passed after the start of the academy semester, and during one of my breaks, the headmaster called me into his office.

There was a special test that all second-year students had to go through, where they would be split into groups and go hunting for monsters in a designated area.

They called it the "Hunting Tournament" since the student with the most monsters hunted would get a reward, recognizing their prowess. However, that wasn’t the main objective of the test.

Devon explained that they usually held the tournament in the woods that separated the capital and a small port town to the west, which was coincidentally called "West Port."

It was the same port town that the capital used to import and export goods when Port Town Blue was under the Kraken’s threat, and it was the closest settlement to the capital.

Each group of students would be accompanied by a professor, who would take notes of the individuals in the group and give them a grade based on their performance.

The students were required to drive a cart from the capital to West Port, protecting their respective teachers and using their powers to survive the three-day trail.

The headmaster explained the event and asked me to accompany two other professors who were heading to the woods that day to clear it out of any monster that was higher than C-rank.

While it was a test for the students to hunt down monsters, he didn’t want any casualties or accidents, so Devon always sent teachers a few days before the test to clear it out of any potential threat.
