Chapter 184: Arcana Trees
After our first day in Safe Haven, we paid a visit to the chief to inquire about the location of the "arcana trees."
However, before we could get to his home, we stopped at almost all of the food stands situated around the main road, where the beastkins sold their crops for incredibly low prices.
I noticed that most of them didn’t even use money to buy stuff but simply bartered using their own items, which made sense, considering this wasn’t supposed to be a mercantile town but a place for refuge.
To the beastkin that lived in Safe Haven, food and items were more important to them than money, so we started bartering with them in exchange for some of their crops.
The reason we were so excited to trade with them was because all of the ingredients they sold were almost impossible to find in the other nations since most of their produce could only grow in the jungle.
A lady with a fruit and vegetable stand had bananas, avocados, coconuts, oranges, mangos, pineapples, tomatoes, corn, and potatoes.
Of course, I exchanged high-quality items with them for their fruit, giving them some apples and redback boar meat.
Another beastkin had a stand selling spices, which was the first time I had seen someone with a store specifically for that.
In the other cities of the continent, any sort of spice would be sold at restaurants, inns, or big markets. But there was never a place solely for condiments.
