Primordial Heir: Nine Stars

Chapter 475: Law of Water: Versus ICE

Barak laughed, like a manic, his maniac laughter echoing sound that seemed to fill the forest. The darkness around him seemed to pulse with joy, feeding on his madness. He had found his purpose. He would grow stronger, and when the time came, he would destroy Nero and claim his place as the rightful ruler of the world, such was his delusion.

In his dimension, the demon watched with amusement. Its lips curled into a satisfied smile, a glass of mysterious red wine in its hand. The game had begun, and its pawn had made the first move.

"Interesting," the demon murmured, its voice a silken whisper. "Things are about to become very, very interesting."

The storm was brewing. And Barak Raizen was at its heart, his path paved with blood and darkness.

The two days passed in a flash. The sun rose and set, the moon waxed and waned, and the academy hummed with the quiet intensity of preparation. The competition between classes was drawing closer, and the air was thick with anticipation. In the training grounds, the clang of steel and the crackle of magic echoed through the halls, a symphony of determination.

Nero and Khione trained intensively. They had found a secluded training ground, a small, open space surrounded by tall trees. The ground was scarred from countless battles, the grass trampled, the stones cracked. It was their space, their sanctuary.

Nero had decided to focus on his fourth law: Water. He wanted to learn from Khione, to understand the sub-law of Ice through her mastery. She was the Ice Queen, the one who had turned frost into an art form. He would learn from her, not through words, but through the clash of their powers.

She had given him an icy glance, a faint smile playing on her lips. He had nodded, a silent acknowledgment. They understood each other well enough to spar without words.

Day One: The First Match.

Nero raised his sword, and a thin layer of water formed along the blade, shimmering like liquid glass. He had not yet mastered the control needed to turn it into ice, but he was learning. Khione raised her wand, and a familiar chill filled the air. Frost gathered around her feet, spreading outward like a living thing.

She attacked first. A wave of ice shot from her wand, sharp and precise. Nero raised his sword, water flowing to meet the attack. The ice struck the water and froze it, turning his weapon into a block of solid ice. He was forced to release it, his sword clattering to the ground.

Khione’s wand moved, and a second wave of ice shot toward him. He dodged, rolled, came up with a sphere of water in his palm. He hurled it at her, but she froze it mid-air, shattering it with a flick of her wrist.

He had no weapon. He had no defense. She advanced, her wand pointed at his chest, and he raised his hands in surrender.

The first match was hers.

Day One: The Second Match.

Nero had retrieved his sword and spent an hour in meditation, feeling the flow of water through his body, through the air, through the earth. He could sense the cold, the potential for ice, but it slipped through his fingers like smoke.

Khione waited, patient, her expression unreadable. When he opened his eyes, she nodded.

They began again. This time, he was faster, more fluid. He used water to deflect her ice attacks, turning her projectiles into harmless spray. He even managed to freeze a thin layer of water along his blade, turning it into a crude ice sword.

But Khione was relentless. She moved like the cold wind, her spells precise, her control absolute. She froze the ground beneath his feet, causing him to stumble. She created a dome of ice around him, trapping him. He dissolved it with water, but by the time he emerged, her wand was at his throat.

The second match was hers.

Day Two: The Third Match.

Nero had spent the night meditating, cycling the Law of Water through his body. He could feel its rhythm, its flow. The cold was no longer an enemy; it was a teacher. He had learned to listen.

He faced Khione, his sword steady, a thin layer of ice along its edge. She raised her wand, and they began.

This time, the battle was different. He moved like water, flowing around her attacks, adapting to her rhythm. He used water to block, ice to counter. His sword sang through the air, trailing a shimmering blue arc. He forced her back, pressing his advantage.

Khione’s eyes widened. She had not expected this. She raised a wall of ice, and he shattered it with a wave of water. She summoned a blizzard, and he stood within it, his sword glowing with cold light.

He closed the distance, his sword meeting her wand in a shower of sparks. They stood face to face, their eyes locked, their breaths mingling.

He smiled. She smiled.

The third match was his.

---

Day Two: The Fourth Match.

Nero’s control had grown. He no longer struggled to summon ice; it flowed from him like water, natural and effortless. His sword was a blur of blue light, his movements fluid, his strikes precise.

Khione fought with everything she had, but she could not keep up. He was faster, stronger, more adaptable. He used water to blind her, ice to trap her, and his sword to push her back.

She fell to her knee, her wand clattering to the ground. He stood over her, his sword raised, his expression calm.

The fourth match was his.

---

Day Two: The Fifth Match.

They fought until exhaustion claimed them both. Nero’s sword was a shimmering blue, his movements fluid and precise. Khione’s wand was a blur of frost, her spells sharp and unrelenting. They clashed in a dance of ice and water, each move a counter to the other’s.

In the end, it was Nero who stood victorious. His sword was at Khione’s throat, her wand a foot away. He lowered the blade and extended his hand. She took it, and he pulled her to her feet.

They stood in the aftermath, breathing hard, their eyes locked. They had fought for two days, pushed each other to their limits, and grown stronger.

He nodded. She nodded.

They left the training ground, their bodies tired but their spirits high. The competition was drawing closer, but they were ready. They had learned. They had grown. And they would face whatever came next together.
