Primordial Heir: Nine Stars

Chapter 88: Saint Chaos Body

Lux’s body slid to the ground, one of his arms twisted at an unnatural angle, agony coursing through him as he struggled to regain his composure.

’This one is mutated.’ The thought flashed through his mind as he attempted to rise to his feet using his remaining arm. Pain surged through him, threatening to make him lose consciousness, but he refused to surrender. He spat out mouthfuls of blood yet managed to finally stand upright.

The mutated orc slowly approached, emanating a palpable pressure. Lux chuckled at the advancing monster, his teeth stained with blood, giving him a haunting appearance.

A quick examination of his body revealed the extent of his injuries: a few of his ribs, despite being reinforced, were broken. His right arm was shattered and bent at an odd angle.

Despite the overwhelming pain, a smile broke across his face.

"My luck is really good," he mused. "To think I’d encounter a mutated orc here. But your mutation isn’t complete yet."

As he spoke those words, Lux activated a healing spell. A silvery white light enveloped his body, and as if time had rewound, his injuries vanished, leaving his arm perfectly intact. He flexed his fingers, clenching and unclenching his fist.

The mutated orc frowned, pausing for a moment before continuing its approach. It didn’t matter; it would crush this dangerous human soon enough. Besides, the orc doubted Lux could use the healing spell numerous times—his reserves of prana weren’t limitless. As a mutated orc, its intelligence and strength surpassed that of a normal orc. They were called "mutated" because they exceeded their original rank, unlocking their full potential. Some lower-level monsters could even wield a rudimentary form of Law after mutation, unlike named monsters who could use Law like other races.

As Lux had noted, this orc had not perfected its mutation yet. There were various ways for monsters to become mutated; the occurrence could happen naturally, but the most common method was through cannibalism—killing and consuming the hearts of other monsters. Even with this method, success was not guaranteed. This orc had adopted the second method, and the reason it hadn’t perfected its mutation yet was simply that it hadn’t fully digested the energy gained from consuming monster hearts. Given a little more time, it could. It planned to kill this young human male and consume his heart to further evolve. With that, he would become the king of this area, eventually moving on to conquer others, breaking free from this cage. Yes, he understood he was trapped; no matter how vast this pocket world or forest was, it was still a cage. They were kept here, raised like livestock for the young humans to use for training. How infuriating! He would grow stronger to escape this prison and unleash destruction outside.
