The Royal Revenge

Chapter 149: Consequences

"You won’t want to anger my queen," Sir Noa warned the vampire king. "She may finally decide to lift the kingdom’s rule regarding fighting. We may not have magic like the vampires do, but our kingdom is rich with things that could kill you with a snap of our finger."

A low guttural growl rose from Aleksander, anger bubbling inside of him.

"Is that a threat, Sir Noa? Are you saying that the Eastern Kingdom is willing to go to war against the bigger, stronger, and magically inclined vampire kingdom of the West?" Aleksander questioned Sir Noa.

The man merely stared at the vampire king blankly, no emotion in his eyes and every single inch of his face.

"It is a fact, your majesty," Sir Noa replied coolly, "A fact that might just be your kingdom’s doom."

Aleksander scoffed at the words spewed by his foreign visitor, "Such lies and bluffs don’t work on me, Sir Noa."

"Then would you gamble to restrain me, King Aleksander?" he countered. Sir Noa glanced back at Elys who still sat in her throne and asked, "How about you, Queen Elysianne? Please don’t tell me you agree with your husband? You are, after all, the more level headed if I was to be more honest."

"How impudent!" hissed Aleksander. "You dare to paint me with negativity, you foreigner!"

Elys’ eyes twitched. She saw just a hint of a smile lifting at the corners of Sir Noa’s mouth. He seemed to have anticipated Aleksander’s response, and spoke words he knew would stall the explosive vampire king.
