Chapter 778: Apology

Chapter 778: Chapter 778: Apology

He fucked her with his fingers until she was writhing, until the sheets twisted in her grip, until she was so close she could feel the orgasm coiling at the base of her spine like something monstrous... and then he stopped.

She screamed in frustration.

Only then did he undo his belt. Only then did he position himself above her, the head of his cock pressing against where she was wettest, hottest, most desperate.

He pushed inside in one long stroke. Her back arched off the bed.

There was no more teasing. He fucked her hard, the kind of fucking that was more punishment than reward, each thrust driving her deeper into the mattress.

Her apologies became a litany, broken syllables spilling from her lips in time with his rhythm and through all of it, Silas remained silent.

Just the sound of their bodies meeting, the creak of the bed frame, and Ivy’s voice cracking on his name.

She came with a sob, her nails raking down his back, and he followed moments later, his jaw clenched tight against whatever sounds he wouldn’t let himself make.

In the aftermath, she reached for him. Silas pulled away.

She watched through half-lidded eyes as he rose from the bed, as he walked to the bathroom, as the shower started. The water ran for a long time.

When he returned, he didn’t meet her gaze. He pulled on a pair of sleep pants, crossed to the bedroom door, and paused with his hand on the frame.

"Get some rest," he said quietly. "Tomorrow is another full day."

The door clicked shut behind him.

.................................

5 days later.

That night, after another lonely sleep, Ivy slowly opened her eyes.

Instinctively, she reached toward the empty space beside her.

The bedsheets there remained cold. Just like every night over the past week, Silas hadn’t slept beside her.

Closing her eyes, Ivy slowly curled into herself.

For the very first time, she truly realized how much pain Silas must have endured because of her decision.

She quietly bit her lower lip. ’Why did I even think of sacrificing myself... I messed up badly.’

After all, Silas loved her more than anyone else. If he had become this cold, then she must have crossed a line she wasn’t supposed to cross.
