Chapter 312 - 310 You Are Lying [5 Updates]
Jane Spencer looked at the hint of embarrassment in the girl’s eyes and asked with a smile, "Maya, I need to go to the bathroom, do you want to come with me?"
"I’m not going." Maya Spencer forced a smile in response.
Jane didn’t actually want to go to the bathroom, but she noticed Maya avoiding Lillian Morris’s gaze, so she intentionally gave them space. As for asking Maya to come along, it was just for show; she knew Maya wouldn’t go.
Because from her eyes, Jane could tell there was something Maya needed to explain to Lillian Morris.
At the dining table, after Lillian watched Jane leave, she took a deep breath, stared at the girl, and asked, "Maya, have you forgotten what you promised me?"
Listening to the man’s questioning, Maya immediately smiled and explained, "Brother Morris, I haven’t forgotten. I’m with Liam Vincent because he’s really good to me."
Hearing the girl’s defense, Lillian was even angrier, exclaiming irritably, "He’s good to you? Then why were you crying? Why is your complexion so bad?"
He could see that she wasn’t doing well and that she was very repressed.
"Brother Morris, you misunderstand; he’s actually quite nice to me." Maya didn’t want Lillian to know anything was wrong with her, nor did she want him to know about her deal with Liam Spencer.
"Maya, you’re lying, your ears are red, you’re lying." Her unusual behavior was easily noticed by him.
"Liam, you’re back, huh." At this moment, Maya suddenly looked up, gazed behind Lillian Morris, and greeted Liam Spencer with a smile.
The girl’s reaction made Lillian feel more strongly that she was being forced to stay with Liam. He looked up and rolled his eyes at Liam, offering no greeting.
Liam observed Lillian’s dissatisfaction towards him, lifted the corners of his mouth, laughed nonchalantly, and then sat beside Maya, directly facing Lillian and asked indifferently, "Does Brother Morris have a big issue with me?"
"Ha! Does the Third Young Master even care about others’ opinions?" Lillian responded with a sneer, indeed he had issues with Liam, and quite a lot of them.
Liam, amused by Lillian’s arrogance, couldn’t help but laugh. After laughing, he turned, reached out his right hand, and probed the bird’s nest in Maya’s bowl and said, "It’s cold, let the waiter change it."
"No need, I can’t eat anymore." At this moment, Maya had no appetite.
Liam saw the panic and evasiveness in the girl’s eyes, his smile grew colder, his instincts told him something must have happened between the two.
Maya’s attitude was something he could accept.
But given his understanding of Lillian Morris, he was very easygoing and wouldn’t argue with others, yet today he showed displeasure. Even when attacking the Morris Clan, he still maintained a smile.
However, seeing Maya and him together, Lillian’s expression changed immediately. Obviously, something must have occurred between the two, causing Lillian’s resentment, which was definitely not work-related.
Thus, during the following dinner, everyone ate in frustration, while Jane Spencer acted as if it didn’t concern her and watched the drama unfold.
On the way back, Liam Spencer’s face was grim, Maya sat in the passenger seat, fearful and worried about making him unhappy.
At this point, Liam suddenly reached out his right hand, pinched Maya’s chin, making her meet his eyes directly.
As the two’s eyes met, Maya pitifully looked at Liam, as if explaining that there was really nothing between her and Lillian.
Looking into her clear eyes, seeing her aggrieved little face, he took a deep breath and said, "Maya, you better not let me catch your weakness."
"Okay." She stared into his eyes, solemnly promising.
Liam, seeing her determined look, let go of her. From her eyes, he could tell she feared him and wouldn’t dare betray him, so he didn’t continue to challenge her.
Beside him, seeing him no longer pursuing the matter with Lillian, Maya finally let go of her anxious heart, clearly feeling Liam’s temper had gotten better over time.
When they got home, they saw Ella Turner squatting at the hallway outside the elevator.
"Ella, why are you here?" Maya was very surprised, as was Liam, though he was obviously unwelcoming.
"Maya, I went to the villa to find you earlier, Sister Taylor asked me to come over." Several days ago, Sister Taylor had asked Ella to check on Maya.
But Maya kept saying she was busy, only keeping in touch over the phone, until this afternoon’s call, Ella heard something off in Maya’s voice, prompting her unannounced visit to Liam’s apartment.
Immediately after, Ella got up from the ground and bowed 90 degrees to Liam Spencer, "Hello, Principal."
"Hmm!" Liam indifferently responded.
"Principal, can I take Maya out to a nearby café for a chat?" Ella, having mustered great courage today, openly challenged Liam.
"No." Liam swiftly refused.
"Liam, I’ll come back after a short while, okay?" Seeing this, Maya pleadingly requested.
"Come back early." Liam couldn’t resist her gaze and ultimately relented.
In the café, Ella tightly held Maya’s hand and asked, "Maya, is the Principal imprisoning you?"
Days ago, Sister Taylor called Ella with hints of information. Being older and just a servant, she couldn’t extract details from Maya, hence the arrangement for Ella to persuade Maya.
"Ella, you’re overthinking." Maya helplessly shook her head.
"Maya, I found your bookmark; is it because of Lillian?" This afternoon, Ella found several bookmarks in Maya’s study, leading her to deduce the truth.
Upon hearing Ella mention bookmarks, Maya was jolted with shock, realizing one more person knew her secret.
"Maya, don’t bear so much alone; aren’t we friends? Why won’t you tell me anything?" More than anything, Ella felt hurt by Maya’s secrecy.
However, as she spoke, Maya’s emotions burst, tears fell like rain; she truly was carrying too much, but how should she convey the burdens to Ella?
Even so, Ella’s emotional appeal made Maya break down completely, and she confessed everything.
Listening to Maya’s story, Ella cried red-eyed, shocked at Liam’s cruelty towards Maya, trampling on her like that.
This anger Ella didn’t know how to swallow, nor did she wish for Maya to stay with such a monster.
Despite promising Maya she wouldn’t divulge anything, after dropping Maya back at the apartment, she still dialed Lillian’s number, believing he deserved to know the truth, to understand Maya’s love for him, rather than Maya bearing all the pressure alone.
