Chapter 282 - 280 Maya Comes Over [5 Updates]
Maya saw the situation and immediately grabbed the books and pen holder on the desk, hurling them at her while shouting, "Help! Somebody!"
Maya never expected that cutting off Jane Spencer’s job would make her so furious that she’d come after her with a knife for revenge. Was it worth it? Back in the day, Elia Spencer used to mess with her mercilessly, without any courtesy.
At the desk, Elia glared at Maya perched on the chair, pointing the knife at her, and angrily demanded, "Bitch, who asked you to come back? Who wanted you back?"
Maya looked at Elia on the verge of a breakdown, stepping onto the desk from the chair and trying to hit Elia’s wrist to knock the knife away. But surprisingly, she gripped the knife as if it was her lifeline, refusing to let go.
She carefully observed Elia’s movements, wanting to take advantage and attack her, but Elia swung the knife wildly like a madwoman, leaving her no chance for an attack.
The commotion in the office soon attracted many onlookers.
Initially, they wanted to intervene, but seeing Elia waving the knife wildly, they crowded at the door, not daring to rush in.
On the desk, Maya swallowed hard and said helplessly, "I haven’t even done anything to you, and you can’t take it? You drugged me twice back then; wasn’t each time meant to destroy me?"
In a physical fight, Maya wouldn’t lose to Elia, but she feared the knife would cut her, so she avoided direct confrontation.
"You bitch, I regret not killing you back then." Elia stared at Maya’s charming face and regretted not killing her earlier, allowing her to rise again.
"Elia, you can’t beat me. You should accept your fate!" Maya carefully advised her, hoping she’d face reality soon.
"Alright! Let’s see if my knife is faster or your life is tougher today!" Elia said as she walked to the desk, waving the knife at Maya.
Seeing the knife swung towards her, Maya quickly jumped from the desk to the chair.
At that moment, a couple of men at the door seized the chance to pounce on her, trying to restrain her.
But Elia reacted too quickly; before the two men approached her, she suddenly turned and swung the knife at them. The man in front couldn’t dodge her sudden strike, and his white shirt ripped open with blood seeping through from the skin underneath.
The man clutched his chest and fled outside the door, where there was a chorus of female screams.
Then Elijah Reed suddenly appeared, pushed through the crowd, and with a furrowed brow, sincerely reminded, "Fourth Miss, stop making trouble. With so many people here, you can’t harm Fifth Miss."
"Oh, who’s this? Elijah Reed, huh? What’s this, feeling sorry for this little bitch now? I never expected, with Brother being so lenient, for his assistant to keep an eye on his woman, and yet he still keeps you around." Elia suspected Elijah had feelings for Maya since 3 years ago.
"Fourth Miss, words can be reckless, but knives shouldn’t be. If you cause any trouble, you’ll only be hurting yourself." Elijah remained as composed as ever.
"Ha-ha! Hurting myself? I’m not afraid to admit; as long as this bitch exists, I can’t live comfortably. If I can take her down with me, it’ll be worth dying for." The laughter in Elia’s words was eerie and chilling.
Just as Elijah was about to act, Liam Spencer suddenly appeared. He had planned to pick Maya up from work earlier but received a two-word text from her, [Help me], so he rushed over.
Witnessing the absurd scene before him, Liam took a deep breath and calmly pushed Elijah aside, walking into the office on his own.
Elia pointed the knife at Liam and nervously said, "Third Brother, don’t meddle. This has nothing to do with you."
The man’s fierce gaze made Elia somewhat apprehensive.
Hearing the girl’s threat, Liam rolled his eyes nonchalantly and continued walking to the desk.
Seeing him ignore her, Elia quickly blocked the desk, swinging the knife wildly at him. Whenever she noticed Maya trying to escape, she accelerated the knife swings towards her.
Until Liam stood in front of her, she stopped waving her arms and pointed the knife at him, commanding, "Liam, step back."
Listening to her order, the man remained unmoved, ignoring her completely. Just as Maya attempted to attack her from behind, she swung the knife with her right hand, cutting Maya on the side of her calf.
Immediately, Maya’s calf was stained with red as blood quickly flowed out from the knife wound.
At that moment, Liam was furious. He held his breath and threatened Elia, "Are you tired of living?"
Elia heard Liam’s warning and shouted at him, "Step back, my knife doesn’t have eyes."
Liam stared at the frenzied Elia, her knife pointing at him, stretched out his right hand, and grasped the blade firmly, glaring at her.
"BOSS." Elijah shouted a warning to the boss, while the staff behind him were too scared to keep their eyes open.
Elia was dumbfounded watching Liam suddenly grip her knife, not expecting him to be so fearless.
Seeing the red blood dripping from Liam’s hand, fear gripped her. But with things having come this far, she had no way out, so she tried to pull the knife back forcefully, only to realize her strength was far from rivaling Liam’s; she couldn’t pull the tightly gripped knife from him.
On the desk, Maya was shocked by Liam’s actions, momentarily forgetting about her own injured, bleeding leg.
She watched Liam with an unchanged expression, gripping Elia’s knife, as his blood "pitter-patter" dripped onto the floor, her heart stopped momentarily. Every breath felt inexplicably painful.
At this moment, her feelings were beyond words, only hoping Liam would let go and stop doing reckless things.
Then, Liam suddenly spoke to Maya, saying, "Maya, come over."
Listening to his gentle command, her eyes reddened instantly. With tears held back, she quickly climbed down from the desk and stood behind Liam.
Maya watched the two still in a standoff, glaring at Elia, and gritted her teeth, saying, "Elia, let go."
Elia heard the girl’s command, tried pulling the knife again, and yelled at Maya, "Bitch, I’ll kill you."
Elia’s knife movement was too much for Maya’s heart to handle; she immediately ran to her and bit her arm hard, trying to make her let go.
Maya’s action surprised Liam somewhat. Seeing the girl’s defense and concern for him, he couldn’t help but start laughing.
