Chapter 278 - 276 Satisfied Now [1st Update]
Jane Spencer listened to Maya Spencer’s words, not needing her to spell it out to know who she was referring to.
She then simply smiled and said, "You’re quite the grudger."
"Of course, she drugged me twice, landed me once in the police station; how could I let her off?" She didn’t even bother to mention the slap she gave her at the hospital last time.
"Haha! Indeed, you shouldn’t let it go." Jane Spencer’s grin was mysterious, with a hint of unease, which piqued Maya’s curiosity. She couldn’t help wondering what stories lay behind that enigmatic smile.
For the unsolved mysteries left three years ago, Maya’s memories became profoundly vivid.
Yet she knew it wasn’t something that could be unraveled overnight, especially without any clues at hand. Previously, she had suspected her grandfather of being the mastermind who pushed her into the sea. Three years later, looking back, it seemed unlikely.
Reflecting on her experiences from three years ago, Maya seemed to rediscover a will to live, as if a long-extinguished flame in her heart began to flicker once more.
Across from her, Jane Spencer, noticing the girl’s intent gaze, gently smiled and said, "Don’t worry, whatever you plan to do, you can count on me!"
"Thank you, Sister Jane Spencer. Looking forward to our cooperation!" Maya responded to Jane Spencer’s promise with a composed smile, thereby wrapping up the topic.
After lunch, she headed directly to someone’s office with the contract given by Jane Spencer.
As she pushed open the door to Liam Spencer’s office, she saw Lydia Jones reporting work, holding a lunch box in her hands.
Maya, witnessing the girl’s endurance, couldn’t help but raise a cold smile, thinking how determined she was to replace Grace. Even yesterday’s intense scene didn’t scare her away; she must have a strong heart.
At the desk, Lydia Jones looked at Maya’s charming smile, memories lingering on yesterday. She took a deep breath, staring straight into Maya’s eyes, wishing her gaze could kill her.
Maya, seeing the girl’s look, walked unhurriedly towards the desk. Stopping before Lydia, she nonchalantly said, "Why stare at me like that? Staring won’t make Liam yours."
Behind the desk, Liam Spencer, listening to Maya’s assertive declaration, couldn’t help but beam with joy,
and quickly told Lydia, "Assistant Jones, please get back to work. I have something to discuss with Maya."
From his tone, the hierarchy between the two was obvious: one was an assistant, the other an endearing nickname. No matter how Lydia viewed it, she couldn’t win this battle.
Listening to Liam’s instructions, Lydia took a deep breath, turning her head to glare fiercely at Maya. As she turned to leave, she even bumped into her.
Maya found the girl’s petty actions amusing; just this little bravery, and she thought she could claim Liam? She’s overestimating herself.
At this moment, in such a situation, it was about endurance and guts, not slinking away to seek help. With her attitude, she would never catch Liam’s attention, unlike KIMI from the bar three years ago.
After Lydia left, Maya lazily glanced at Liam, tossing the contract onto his desk, carelessly saying, "Your sister’s contract, sign it."
The man, seeing her casual and unruly attitude, half-closed his eyes, leaned back in his chair, and unhurriedly said, "You weren’t around at noon just for this?"
"Yep!" She looked at him, nodding without hesitation.
The man, observing her overflowing confidence, frowned deeply and stared at her, asking, "And if I don’t sign?"
At this point, someone’s aura was overwhelming; he had to suppress her spirit.
But Maya, unfazed, said coolly, "Sign it or not, it’s up to you; after all, she’s your own sister, not mine."
With that, she grabbed her handbag from her lap, stood up from the chair, and headed to the door.
Just a few steps away, she suddenly turned and earnestly told Liam, "I’m staying at Ella’s for a few days, so I won’t be back at the apartment."
Hearing this, Liam couldn’t help but burst into laughter, "Isn’t this just an open threat..."
After he stopped laughing, he looked at Maya’s retreating figure and cheerfully said, "Fine, fine, I’ll sign it, okay?"
Hearing his concession, Maya finally smirked with satisfaction, turned around, and sat back in the chair again.
The man, noticing the happy smile on her face, felt exceptionally good, immediately pulled a pen from the holder, grabbed the contract, and signed it without even looking.
Seeing the man’s straightforward demeanor made Maya inexplicably happy. She bit her lower lip and smiled secretly, knowing that the contract had nothing to do with her, and the money Jane Spencer earned wouldn’t go into her pocket, yet she was still happy.
After Liam finished signing the contract, he tossed it in front of Maya and said helplessly, "Satisfied now?"
"Good boy." Maya replied to his voice, flipping through the contract, smugly.
Liam, watching her agile eyebrows dance, leaned both elbows on the desk, fingers interlocked, resting his chin, staring straight into her eyes, saying, "Have Elijah Reed stamp a few seals on it, just to wrap it up."
"Mmhmm!" Maya pursed her lips and nodded.
The man, seeing her playful appearance, took a deep breath, stood up from his chair slowly, and walked towards her, step by step.
As he stopped beside her, he gently leaned down, supporting himself with his left hand on her chair back and his right hand on the desk, leaning close to her face, asking ambiguously, "Coming home tonight?"
"Nope." She teased him deliberately, playing hard to get.
When Liam heard she still wasn’t coming home, he bit a little harder this time, and she pouted and exclaimed, "Ouch."
The man, hearing her soft voice, felt a surge of heat, then kissed her cheek gently, continuing to ask, "Coming home tonight?"
Maya, feeling teased by the man, turned to look at him, just about to say no when her lips were quickly sealed by his.
His kisses were intense, tasting deeply.
His passion seemed to melt Maya, her hands clutching the contract involuntarily curled into fists, she gently closed her eyes, and lifted her head to enjoy his kiss.
Only after five or six minutes did Liam reluctantly release her, resting his lips against hers, asking, "Coming home tonight?"
Hearing his repeated questioning, seeing his gaze as tender as water, she couldn’t help feeling a little shy, and with a blushed face, she sweetly said, "Yes, I’ll come."
Seeing her compromised, Liam kissed her lips again, and Maya lifted her hands gently wrapping them around his neck.
