Chapter 277 - 275 Can’t Bear You Anymore【5 More】
Luckily, she had been clever earlier. When she walked out from behind the desk, she secretly dialed Liam Spencer’s number. She didn’t believe Liam would happily accept Maya Spencer’s confession after hearing all that.
Directly in front of Charlotte Owen, Maya listened to the woman’s scolding and said calmly, "If you have time, teach your nephew not to be seduced by me. It’s useless to make a fuss with me, and don’t try to put on airs. I don’t fall for your tricks."
"Maya Spencer, don’t think you can be complacent until the end. Liam Spencer could never like someone like you." Even though Charlotte knew she couldn’t win an argument against Maya, cursing her a few more times made her feel more comfortable.
"Who can say what will happen in the future? At least for now, he likes someone like me." Maya said, taking two steps forward and pressing close to Charlotte Owen.
Then, she slightly lifted the corners of her mouth, reached into her bag for her phone, smiled mysteriously, and said to the phone, "Third Brother, enjoying the drama, are you?"
On the other end of the line, Liam listened to the familiar voice of the girl, heard her say "Third Brother" in such a brazen manner, and felt great.
Thus, he flirtatiously called out, "Little devil."
Charlotte Owen quickly grabbed the phone, angrily saying, "Liam Spencer, did you hear that? This woman only wants to be with you for your money. Get her out of the company immediately."
Facing Charlotte’s accusations, Liam wasn’t bothered at all and casually responded, "Aunt, just go back and stop making a fuss. You know you’re no match for Maya in an argument, so why make things difficult for yourself?"
Listening to someone’s kind advice, Charlotte felt like her lungs were going to explode, and she cursed loudly without caring about her image, "Liam Spencer, you bastard! I treated you well for nothing."
Beside her, Maya watched someone turning red with anger and couldn’t help but cover her mouth and laugh, thinking how much she overestimated her relationship with Liam Spencer. The more she acted up like this, the more counterproductive it became.
Both she and Liam were rebellious, always going against the grain. The more she wanted to break them up, the more they wanted to be together.
Seeing Charlotte hang up the phone in a huff, Maya walked slowly to the door, opened it, and said coolly, "President Owen, no need to see you out."
Charlotte Owen looked at the girl’s arrogant manner, clenched her teeth in anger, rolled her eyes at her, and left without looking back.
Maya watched Charlotte’s departing figure, shook her head, thinking how she underestimated her by trying to intimidate her with just her words.
After Charlotte left, Maya felt even better. She’s always been like this; doing something bad puts her in a good mood.
At her desk, she leaned on the table with her left hand and propped her chin up, while her right hand hovered over the mouse as she casually played games until her phone suddenly rang at 11 o’clock.
Maya lazily picked up the phone, originally thinking it would be some jerk upstairs calling her for lunch, but was surprised to see it was her older sister calling.
Looking at the familiar number, she couldn’t help but coldly laugh and murmur, "Couldn’t hold back, calling so soon."
Once the call was connected, she lazily asked, "Big Sis, what’s up?"
"Maya, are you free? Let’s have lunch together." Jane Spencer didn’t go straight to the point but instead invited Maya to lunch.
Listening to her sister’s words, Maya couldn’t help but think back to three years ago, when her sister would get straight to the point when asking her for a favor, skipping the pleasantries. It seems that the title of Miss Hanson must really have some perks, allowing her to get lunch invitations from her sister.
She thought about it for a moment, then calmly responded, "Alright, send me the restaurant address, and I’ll head over now."
After all, sitting idle in the office wasn’t doing any good, and having a chat with Sister Jane Spencer seemed like a decent choice.
So after hanging up the phone, she grabbed her bag and headed to the designated restaurant.
At the restaurant, Jane Spencer had already arrived. When she saw Maya, she immediately waved to catch her attention quickly.
Not far away, Maya looked at her smiling sister, slightly lifted the corners of her mouth, and couldn’t help but smile—a smile full of irony.
As she sat opposite Jane Spencer, her sister immediately pushed the menu towards her and said, "Maya, this restaurant is quite good."
Listening to Jane’s words, Maya reached out to take the menu and softly replied, "Hmm," as an acknowledgment.
After she finished ordering, Jane asked with great concern, "I heard you’re working at the Owen Clan now as Liam’s assistant."
"Yeah! Just holding a position, it’s meaningless," Maya said indifferently.
"My brother actually likes you and wants to keep you close. He wouldn’t bear to have you working."
Faced with Jane’s compliments, Maya showed no reaction; she just smiled at her.
Then Jane continued, "Maya, although my brother cares about you and doesn’t want you to get tired, women should have their own jobs and social circles; otherwise, they’d be worthless."
Upon hearing this, Maya looked up directly at Jane, grinning without feeling, and said, "I’ve always been a worthless woman, no need to trouble Big Sis over it."
"..." Jane looked at the girl’s honest confession, feeling a pang of grief.
She really disliked Maya’s half-dead attitude, but she couldn’t get rid of her, and now she needed her help.
Across from her, Maya watched Jane’s awkward smile and calmly smiled back. Then she extended her little hand, placed it before Jane, and said, "Big Sis, bring out the papers to sign, will you? It’s not the first time you’ve asked me for help, so why be so polite?"
Jane looked at Maya’s audacity, her hair standing on end with anger, thinking that giving her an inch and she’d take a yard.
But considering she really needed to ask her, she forced herself to swallow her anger, slowly took out the prepared contract from her bag, handed it to Maya, and said with a forced smile, "It’s a good project; Owen Clan won’t suffer a loss."
"Oh!" Maya accepted the contract without showing any interest.
She was surprised that even after three years, the relationship between this brother and sister remained so strained, with no progress.
Watching Maya’s disdainful attitude, Jane wanted to take the contract back, but eager to impress her grandfather, she could only smile and say, "I’m counting on you, Maya."
Listening to her sister’s fake gratitude, Maya looked up at her with a smile and said, "Big Sis, in the future, just say it directly if you need something. We’re not outsiders."
Maya’s words sounded pleasant, but Jane didn’t feel comfortable, thinking Maya was mocking her.
Indeed, Maya was mocking her, taunting how she’d compromise and ask for favors for the sake of profit, a stark contrast to the blatant threats she once used.
The girl watched Jane’s forced smile and nonchalantly said, "Big Sis, there seem to be too many idle people in the Spencer Clan Group."
Listening to Maya’s words, Jane didn’t need her to spell it out to know exactly who she was referring to.
So she smiled and said, "You’re quite the grudge-holder."
Note: Maya’s about to deal with people; I’ve spent all day revising the text and outline. Starting tomorrow, the plot will take off, flying through the sky. Hope you enjoy it~
