Chapter 183 - 181: Jealousy Consuming the Heart [Part 6]
At this moment, Christopher couldn’t hold back anymore. Afraid that Liam might flip the table, he immediately explained, "Third Brother, don’t misunderstand, Maya and that guy are just classmates, nothing else."
"Who is that guy?" Liam asked, suppressing his anger.
"Teacher Clark’s son. They studied abroad together. Really, there’s nothing more to it."
"Ha! So, it’s Young Master Clark!" Liam sneered coldly.
"Yes, yes! Don’t lose your temper, give Teacher Clark some respect. Besides, Adrian is just a bookworm. Maya wouldn’t like such a boring person." Christopher hurriedly reminded him, fearing someone’s jealousy would get the better of them.
However, Liam just said nonchalantly, "Oh! Is that so?"
In his view, Maya seemed quite fond of that bookworm, and that guy wasn’t dull at all; he managed to amuse Maya so much, something Liam himself couldn’t do!
"Yes, and don’t be mad. I’ll call her over to greet you." As Christopher spoke, he took out his phone and called Maya.
Not far away, Maya heard Christopher’s call, lifted her head, and looked at them, her expression immediately turning serious.
She didn’t want to heed Christopher’s words and go over to greet them, so after hanging up, she didn’t pay attention.
Liam watched the girl’s suddenly changed expression, feeling extremely depressed. He thought, what does Maya mean by this? Seeing them, she puts on a sour face, as if they owe her something.
No doubt about it! Indeed owed, and not by others, but him, Liam Spencer himself.
Beside her, Adrian noticed Maya suddenly turning silent, lifted his right hand, pinched her arm, and asked, "Maya, why are you suddenly unhappy? Do you know Third Young Master and the others?"
"Not well, no need to pay attention." Maya pretended to be indifferent.
But soon after, Christopher’s call came again. He said, "Sweetheart, bring Young Master Clark over to meet us. His grandfather taught us, after all."
In reality, Grandfather Clark had never taught them, nor had his father. He was deliberately trying to find common ground!
Adrian saw Maya’s phone ring again, then followed her gaze to look at Christopher and the others, seeing Christopher gesturing for him to go over!
For a moment, he felt awkward!
Although back home, his sister had briefed him on the celebrities of S City, he didn’t know these people at all, nor did he plan to make their acquaintance.
When Maya lifted her head to look at Liam, she saw him staring fixedly at her, as if he wished to devour her whole.
Afterwards, she noticed Liam’s gaze shift to Adrian, which made her swallow a lump in her throat with alert wariness.
She thought, if she continued to hide, it would only make Liam wildly speculate, think there was something between her and Adrian.
To not affect Adrian, Maya took a deep breath, smiled, and asked the boy, "Why don’t we go over and greet Fifth Master Scott?"
"Sure, okay!" the boy nodded, not refusing.
So, the two of them stood up from the sofa and leisurely walked towards Christopher and the others.
"Truly a beauty," Hartley remarked, unable to help herself, as they approached.
"And quite the fiery temper!" About the matter of Maya privately taking the child, Christopher dared not mention it, fearing someone might wreck the place.
Watching Maya walk step by step closer, Liam’s smile grew colder, seeing Maya protectively shield Adrian behind her. It reminded him of how she would chat and laugh with him while driving.
Liam swallowed a gulp, suppressing his anger, telling himself not to tear the kid apart.
"Oh! Is this your classmate, sweetheart?" Christopher took the lead when they arrived.
"Hmm! This is my classmate, Adrian."
Then, he turned to Adrian and introduced, "Adrian, this is Fifth Master Scott, and this is Third Young Master."
"Hello, Fifth Master Scott!"
"Hello, Third Young Master!"
Even though Adrian had little regard for the capitalists, he wouldn’t slight Maya’s friends.
"Young Master Clark, impressive! You can make Maya laugh like that." As Christopher spoke, he ruffled Adrian’s handsome hairstyle, treating him like a child.
"Maya loves to laugh," Adrian explained.
It would have been better had he not explained; upon hearing this, someone’s expression turned even worse. So, Maya only gives him sour looks, is that it?
"Come, let me introduce a sister to you, Hartley, Lucas Shaw’s cousin, call her Sister Hartley." Christopher introduced Hartley to the two earnest little guys.
"Hello, Sister Hartley!" the two greeted in unison.
"Oh! How sweet, I didn’t bring any red envelopes today, but I’ll treat you to candy another day," Hartley said, in a parental manner, treating them as children.
Seeing Hartley’s calm and gracious demeanor, Maya immediately recognized her as Liam’s companion for the evening. No wonder, being Second Master Shaw’s cousin, she’s exceptionally poised, and Liam shows her quite the respect.
After the pleasantries, Liam looked at Adrian with a smile, extended his right hand, and greeted, "Young Master Clark, it’s a pleasure to meet you!"
Adrian gazed at the extended hand of Liam’s, feeling slightly shy; he hadn’t expected the legendary Third Young Master to be so approachable and courteous to him.
What he didn’t know was that at this moment, Liam envied breaking him into pieces and feeding him to the fishes, so he could never appear in front of Maya again.
Thus, he naively extended his right hand, gently shook Liam’s hand, and said with a smile, "It’s a pleasure to meet you, Third Young Master."
Regarding Maya’s past, Adrian knew nothing; thus, he had no idea about the love and hatred between her and Liam.
When their hands clasped, Adrian’s face suddenly turned pale, eyes staring fixedly at Liam.
He’d never known that capitalists would shake hands with such force, almost crushing his bones.
He saw Liam’s composed smiling face, awkwardly reminding, "Third Young Master, you’re hurting my hand."
"Pfft!" Nearby, Christopher and Hartley couldn’t help but laugh, thinking this guy must feel bewildered, not knowing how he had offended Liam.
After laughing, Hartley promptly hugged Liam’s arm, advising, "Liam, what are you doing? Don’t scare the kid."
However, Liam ignored Hartley, kept smiling at Adrian, and said, "I heard Young Master Clark is quite the expert in life sciences. Someday, we should discuss further. I wholeheartedly support Young Master Clark’s research work."
This speech from Liam, Adrian couldn’t understand, but the others could hear it clearly; he was threatening someone!
Maya watched Liam’s provocation, bursting with anger, thinking, what a madman, lashing out at everyone he meets.
Seeing Adrian’s awkward expression, she took a deep breath, grabbed Liam’s wrist with a smile, and said, "Third Young Master, that’s quite a long greeting, isn’t it?"
After saying that, she tugged Liam’s hand downwards slightly, but the man didn’t budge an inch.
