Chapter 182 - 180: Exploding on the Spot [5 Updates]
"Yes, yes, yes! Witness how extravagant capitalists are." The boy across from Maya Spencer laughs off her joke with ease.
Meanwhile, at the entrance of the banquet hall, as Liam Spencer deals with reporters, his gaze involuntarily begins to search for a certain someone’s shadow.
Three days ago, he had told her that if she spent a night with him, he could help her with something.
He thought Maya would eagerly come to him, plotting how to ruin the Owen Clan.
To his surprise, she made no move at all, seemingly not planning on seeking revenge anymore.
In a cold war, he indeed couldn’t handle it as calmly as she could.
But this time, Maya didn’t engage in a cold war; instead, she played hard to get. Since Liam could attend a matchmaking banquet arranged by his grandfather, he could voluntarily give her a chance for revenge.
Maya guessed that even if she didn’t seek him out, he would come looking for her. Thus, she didn’t bother paying attention to this matter.
Liam scanned the banquet hall but didn’t see Maya and Adrian Clark lounging on the sofa. Instead, he noticed Henry Reid drinking alone.
The reporters, seeing Liam distracted, asked, "Third Young Master, we heard you were discussing marriage a few days ago. Is the wedding coming soon?"
Liam listened to the reporter’s question and glanced at him, knowing without thinking that this rumor was spread by the old man, Michael Spencer.
Then he heard the reporter ask, "Is your fiancée Miss Hartley Shaw? Is she returning from abroad this time for the wedding?"
Faced with everyone’s questions, Liam smiled broadly and answered, "If I were to get married, I would certainly inform everyone."
"So, Third Young Master, does that mean you have plans to marry? Could you perhaps share when you and Miss Shaw are planning to wed?"
Liam saw through the reporter’s trap at once; what was the talk of his wedding date with Miss Shaw was clearly trying to trick him into revealing the wedding date and the bride.
Liam took a deep breath, smiled calmly, and explained, "Today is the Bennett Clan Group’s anniversary celebration, so please focus more on the Bennett Clan Group; such noisy disruptions are not favorable!"
By directly changing the topic, Liam undoubtedly implied to the media that the girl beside him was his fiancée.
Whatever the case, he just wouldn’t explain, leaving them with no choice, even if they had their suspicions.
Next to him, a girl, seeing Liam’s reaction, smiled while posing for the media, and secretly complained to Liam, "Third Young Master, using me as a prop like this isn’t right! I still want to get married. If I’m labeled as your fiancée, who would dare marry me?"
Hearing the girl’s complaint, Liam turned to her, leaned close to her ear, and promised, "Don’t worry, whoever you fancy won’t dare refuse to marry you; leave it to me."
Liam’s muttered promise further convinced the media of the good relations between them, thinking she might very well be the Third Young Master’s fiancée!
"Haha! Third Young Master always keeps his word; don’t regret it later." The girl, linking arms with Liam, forced a smile, continuing to pose for the journalists.
Until the two entered the hall, the reporters retreated, giving them space.
"Oh, the third brother is getting married! How come none of us have heard?" Christopher Scott examined the handsome duo before him, uncertain whether his words were more envious or jealous.
"You brat still have the face to speak here; not only did you drive Seven away, but she’s also unwilling to come back now, and you still have the nerve to show up." Hearing Christopher’s envy, Hartley Shaw deliberately hit him where it hurt.
Seeing Hartley’s unfriendly demeanor, Christopher immediately feigned seriousness and said, "Let’s not mention that woman; we’re still friends!"
"Who wants to be friends with you?!" Hartley was unimpressed, rolling her eyes at him.
"Hartley, you’re not at all lovable, unlike Maya, who’s adorable." Though Christopher was joking, his mood was oddly flavored, becoming somber each time he thought of that woman.
"Maya?" Hartley pondered aloud, hearing the familiar name, frowning while musing.
Regarding Maya, Hartley had heard of her long ago but never had the chance to see her in person because of inconvenient timing. She had also heard Maya had returned, so could she be at the banquet?
"That’s right! She’s much more well-liked than you." Christopher had always remembered fondly the good qualities of Maya.
It was Liam who gave him the chance, allowing him to sleep with Sienna Carter; yet, he had to blame Maya for it all.
"Did she come? I really want to meet her!" Unable to contain her curiosity, Hartley craned her head, eager to see her.
Seeing her curious demeanor, Christopher leaned his elbow on the bar behind him, looking toward a distant corner, and said, "There! She’s having a great time, probably hasn’t smiled like that at the third brother."
Christopher’s words had just fallen when Liam and Hartley looked in the same direction he was pointing.
Today, Maya was wearing a delicate pink dress that accentuated the fairness of her skin. Her dark hair was neatly pulled back into a low ponytail, matching her lazy demeanor.
The makeup-free face was utterly charming, each gesture and smile exceptionally captivating.
For a moment, Hartley was transfixed; she had long heard that Maya was a beauty, and upon seeing her, she indeed lived up to her reputation, so beautiful it made her unable to look away. What a beauty, truly stunning.
"How about that? She’s adorable, isn’t she?" Seeing Hartley’s struck-in-awe expression, Christopher grinned deviously, as if Maya was his girlfriend, giving him immense pride.
"Hahaha! So adorable!" Hartley couldn’t help laughing at Christopher repeatedly calling Maya adorable.
Then she asked, "So, has Fifth Master Scott moved on from Seven for Maya?"
Mentioning Seven again, Christopher couldn’t stay calm; he turned serious, looking at Hartley and asked, "When did I start having feelings for another? When did I ever like that woman?"
"Just keep being stubborn! I’ll relay your words to Seven verbatim."
While the two argued, they both forgot to keep an eye on Liam.
By now, he was nearly ready to explode on the spot.
Seeing Maya and Adrian Clark talking and laughing, his heart cramped painfully, and he already recognized the boy from a few days ago as the one who had been sitting in Maya’s car.
He saw Maya resting her right hand under her chin, attentively listening to the boy speak. When the boy spoke passionately, she laughed exceptionally brightly and beautifully.
Such a smile she had never shown him.
He never realized Maya could smile so beautifully!
A moment later, Christopher noticed someone was about to explode, and upon looking at Maya again, everything became clear. Someone was indeed getting jealous!
Just don’t let innocent people get caught up; Young Master Clark is pure and can’t withstand his antics.
So, he quickly pulled Liam aside, saying, "Third brother, enough looking! Let’s stop!"
Listening to Christopher’s advice, Liam swallowed hard, shook off his hand, and continued to half-close his eyes, watching a certain someone be happy.
