Chapter 90 - 88: Embarrassing Words [2nd Update]
Maya rolled her eyes at her, ignored her, and the woman continued speaking, "Reeking of alcohol, suffocatingly so."
"Maya, what’s with your attitude? Do you know what’s proper, do you know how to spell ’manners’? You’ve caused such a huge issue, the whole family is waiting for you, and what do you do? You go out drinking, drive back, and even drink-drive! Can’t you do something right?"
Hannah looked at Maya’s careless attitude, her face turned pale with anger, and she began scolding her vigorously!
Inside the study, Old Master Spencer was disturbed by her shouting, put down his book, frowned and left the study.
Standing in the hallway, he saw Hannah yelling at Maya.
Honestly speaking, he didn’t like this illegitimate daughter; looking at her, she didn’t remind him at all of her mother. He still remembered her mother as a pretty, gentle, lovely woman, but Maya resembled no one and carried an expression as if everyone owed her money, himself included.
Yet, he didn’t realize that Maya had turned out this way because he didn’t give her enough paternal love, didn’t care enough about her, and always let her suffer.
Watching Maya walk away defensively towards her room, ignoring Hannah, he finally spoke up, sharply calling out, "Maya, stop right there."
Maya heard the man’s voice, turned around, lifted her head, looked up at him as he stood high above, stared directly without asking what he wanted.
Old Master Spencer looked at Maya’s eyes; a chill rose from his feet. He didn’t understand why a young girl’s gaze could be so cold, frighteningly cold.
