Chapter 170: Missed You
"I guess it wouldn’t be so bad?" Riven said with uncertainty.
Soren found it pleasing, even though others would find it odd.
"So... Are we going to do anything?" Riven asked, his wolf ears twitching in anticipation, betraying his barely contained excitement. His green eyes sparkled with hope, he tried to sound nonchalant, but that failed.
Soren raised an eyebrow, his arms crossed as he sat at the edge of the bed. "No," he said simply, voice even and firm.
Riven blinked. "No?" His ears twitched again, this time with confusion. He scooted closer, his expression falling into a soft pout. "Why not?" he asked with a small, almost whiny tone. "I’ve been gone forever, and now you’re just gonna cuddle me?"
Before Soren could answer, he reached forward and tugged Riven by the wrist. The next second, Riven yelped as he was pulled into Soren’s embrace, both of them tumbling onto the bed in a heap of limbs and muffled laughter. The covers tangled around them like a net, but Soren didn’t let go.
Once they’d settled, Riven was tucked against his chest, his nose pressed to the soft fabric of Soren’s shirt. The sound of his heartbeat was steady. Comforting. Familiar.
Soren stroked a hand down Riven’s back. "Because we have six more days," he said softly. "Six full days. No interruptions. Just us, you will not be leaving this bed."
"Is that a promise?" Riven asked eagerly.
