Chapter 114: The Alpha
Ronan lifted his head slightly and licked Riven’s cheek once before settling back down.
Riven blinked and chuckled softly. "I guess I should’ve known you were clingy."
The room filled with warmth—not just from the physical heat of the alpha’s body but from the slow burn of affection simmering between them. Riven’s fingers stroked over Ronan’s side absently, and Ronan’s tail gave a soft wag in response. Riven pouted, this Alpha was stealing his move!
Riven knew, deep down, this man beside him was still hiding his desperation. Even if he was calm on the outside, the tension in his body betrayed the whirlwind underneath. And yet, Ronan was trying. Trying not to pressure him, trying to be patient, trying to earn his trust again. That meant something.
He scooted back just a little more, pressing himself firmly against the curve of Ronan’s wolf body. "You know, I didn’t think I’d come back here so soon."
Ronan flicked his ear in response but didn’t move otherwise.
"I didn’t think I’d come back to you," Riven said a little softer, voice cracking on the edge of sleep. "But I did."
As if responding to his words, Ronan’s head pressed more firmly against the pillow, his nose tucked into Riven’s hair. The wolf exhaled a low breath, content and calm for the first time in days.
Ronan was finally home, he was with his mate. He wished time would stop so he could savour this moment more.
The room was quiet, the air still holding the warmth of two bodies tangled together just moments ago. Moonlight had crept in through the partially drawn curtains, casting soft silver lines across Riven’s peaceful face. Ronan watched him for a moment longer, his icy blue eyes melted at the sight.
He didn’t want to move. He spent a sleepless night in Soren’s house. Riven was not next to him but upstairs, next to that manipulative, devious snow leopard. Not having his mate next to him felt like torture. And now that Riven was here, he did not want to leave.
