Seeing his wife’s lips almost torn, Feng Zhexuan handed her a towel to bite instead, and gently reminded her, "Wife, don’t bite your lips."
While Yan Yuling was being transferred, Feng Zhexuan quickly changed into clean clothes.
Before he left, Granny Zhang handed him a small package and said, "Mr. Feng, these are ginseng slices. Let Yuling chew on them if she feels exhausted."
"Thank you," he replied and kept the package in his pocket.
Inside the delivery room, the medical staff worked with calm efficiency, their composed demeanor easing some of the couple’s anxiety. The nurses even shared funny stories about other birth partners to lighten the mood.
While they chatted, the doctor waited patiently until Yan Yuling felt the urge to push. Sitting at the end of the bed, she instructed, "Madam, take a deep breath and push. Save your energy, try not to scream."
Having attended prenatal classes, both Yan Yuling and Feng Zhexuan followed the doctor’s guidance. To her surprise, the pain during delivery wasn’t as intense as the contractions. Chewing on a ginseng slice, she gave a strong push after almost an hour of pushing.
"I can see the baby’s head!" the doctor announced. "One more push, Madam."
Encouraged by the doctor’s words, Yan Yuling gripped her husband’s hand tightly and pushed again. Moments later, the baby’s cries filled the room.
"Waaa!!"
Standing by her side, Feng Zhexuan froze at the sound.
