Chapter 107: Selfish
The world stopped. In the high-end district in Crestfall City, the breakers of every store moved to protect their shops. Over two dozen Crows—information broker agents in suits—lingered at the edge of the scene.
Three dogs and a bird stood guard—yet not a soul dared approach.
At the center: two Crows writhing in metal restraints, a towering man gripping their skulls, and a woman whose soft smile made even trained killers tremble.
Bianca walked leisurely. "I see that the Crows talent is as annoying as ever."
Elian turned towards her, confused. His scans showed that both men had the same talent—Informative. But he didn’t actually know what it meant. Bianca, who kept one eye on his reaction, answered immediately.
"The Crows organization is built on Informative. Each Crow is a node in a living network. The moment one sees, the rest know."
The golem’s eyebrows furrowed. No wonder the Crows all did not try to fight the "dogs" with them. Anyone with brains could piece together that their party of pets was, in fact, the monsters in the videos they shared.
"It is also what makes the Crows so effective; they intentionally scatter, making any form of censorship impossible." Bianca’s heels clacked as she walked confidently to the bound Crows. "At least, for anyone but me."
Understanding the nature of the Crows, Elian marked each of them with a soul brand. He would hunt them with Driven - Hopeless if it came to it. In concern, he advised his lover, "Bianca, let’s kill them."
His words caused every Crow to flinch, not just the two in front of them. However, while he grew concerned, Bianca never lost her smile. Instead, she walked towards Elian and affectionately caressed his face.
"There is no need, darling. There is a reason: everyone was afraid of me. As Dr. Magnolia was assassinated, I am the only one who can control the System."
