For an instant, they felt a brief surge of triumph as if the outcome of the battle had finally tipped in their favor.
However, that feeling was short-lived.
Their attention lingered on the body sprawled on the ground-apparently unmoving-until, in the very next second, a spear streaked through the air at shocking speed.
The woman from the Hell Clan failed to react in time, completely blindsided by this sudden assault.
With a sickening crunch, the spear pierced her chest and pinned her to the ground.
A strangled gasp escaped her lips, and blood seeped around the weapon’s shaft.
“Amara!” cried the Atrox, horror etched into his features as he saw the woman skewered against the stone floor.
His voice carried both panic and despair.
Yet, mere moments later, his terror receded slightly upon realizing that, although the spear had indeed punctured her chest, it had landed just beneath her lungs.
