Chapter 1486: Next Meeting
"We need to gather again."
Those words were transmitted directly into their minds at the same time through their connection as Dragonborns.
The message was brief and simple, but it immediately caused confusion and concern among Eccar, Aesa, and Sylven.
After all, their original plan had been to split up for a while and pursue their own individual journeys. Each of them had decided to confront their own problems and search for answers in their own way first. Erend himself had agreed with that decision before they parted ways.
So why had he suddenly changed his mind? None of them could ignore the possibility that something serious had happened.
If Erend was calling all four Dragonborns together so suddenly after they agreed to part ways, then perhaps an emergency had occurred somewhere in the universe. Perhaps another cosmic threat had appeared or one of their enemies had made their move sooner than expected.
Naturally, none of them wasted any time asking unnecessary questions through their telepathic connection. Whatever the reason was, they knew it would be easier to discuss it face-to-face.
Several days later, the four Dragonborns gathered once again inside the cave that had previously belonged to Krono.
Despite Krono’s death, the cave remained filled with ancient Time Magic and faint traces of his existence. Golden particles of light occasionally drifted through the cavern. The familiar atmosphere brought back memories of the countless conversations and battles that had begun within this place.
It had somehow become an unofficial meeting place for the Dragonborns.
Eccar had arrived first and quietly waited near the center of the cave. Since he had already been staying there recently, he naturally became the first one to welcome the others.
Not long afterward, Erend, Aesa, and Sylven arrived one after another. But different from their previous gathering the atmosphere this time felt noticeably tense.
"What happened?" Aesa asked almost immediately after arriving.
Even though she attempted to remain calm, she could not completely hide the anxiety in her expression.
Her question perfectly represented what the others were feeling at that moment.
Eccar silently crossed his arms while staring at Erend. Sylven stood quietly with a slight frown on his youthful face. All three of them carried the same question in their minds. Had another cosmic being appeared? Was there a new threat capable of destroying worlds? Or had something happened to one of them?
Erend looked at each of their faces one by one before letting out a small chuckle after realizing that they were expecting terrible news.
"Relax," he said while raising both hands slightly. "No one’s trying to destroy the universe this time. For now."
The tense atmosphere inside the cave immediately eased somewhat.
Erend then explained everything he had learned from Veyrun during the past few days.
He told them about the ancient records scattered throughout the cosmic and the existence of three different worlds that potentially contained Dragonborn legacies. He described Elyndor and its legendary Sky Tyrant, Valthoria and the Black Scale King’s ancient trial, and finally Astryveil with its mysterious First Nest and the records of the four Dragons born from the stars.
The expressions on everyone’s faces gradually changed from confusion into surprise as they listened to his explanation.
"My power believes there’s a high probability that these legacies belonged to previous Dragonborns," Erend continued. "We don’t know what exactly we’ll find there. It could be ancient knowledge, forgotten techniques, or perhaps even the answers regarding the Black Rage."
The cave became silent for several moments after he finished speaking. Ancient Dragonborn legacies... Finally they had discovered a clue regarding the origins of their kind.
Until now, they had always been blindly moving forward while knowing almost nothing about the powers they possessed.
If previous generations of Dragonborn truly existed, then perhaps they had already faced the same struggles and enemies long before them.
More importantly, they might have found a way to overcome them.
"So," Erend finally said while looking at the three Dragonborn before him, "I’ve decided that we should postpone our plans to split up. Whatever is waiting for us in those worlds is important enough that we should investigate it together."
Eccar, Aesa, and Sylven exchanged glances after hearing Erend’s explanation. None of them spoke immediately so silence filled the cave. Each of them quietly fell into their own thoughts.
There was one thing they all had come to acknowledge over time. Erend’s power had repeatedly guided them whenever they found themselves facing difficult situations.
Among them, Eccar had been with Erend the longest so he had personally witnessed countless moments where the System’s guidance had allowed them to overcome seemingly impossible obstacles, from discovering hidden truths to finding ways to defeat enemies, Erend’s power had never once led them astray.
They had reached their current level of strength, then a significant part of that was thanks to the existence of Erend’s power.
Aesa shared a similar opinion. While she had once been skeptical of relying too heavily on something she could not fully understand, she could no longer deny the results.
Sylven also felt the same way. He trusted his judgment.
After several moments of silence, Eccar finally nodded.
"Okay," he said calmly. "We should go there then."
There was no hesitation in his voice. The opportunity to uncover the forgotten history of the Dragonborns was simply too valuable to ignore. There was a huge chance that these ancient legacies held the answers he had been searching for.
Aesa merely nodded in understanding.
Sylven crossed his arms and quietly spoke."I was planning to travel alone for a while like you said. But this sounds far more important. I don’t think wandering aimlessly will help me find answers faster than investigating our own history. So, I agree as well."
Erend smiled faintly after hearing their answers.
He had expected that they would agree eventually, but hearing their immediate support still reassured him.
Their individual journeys would simply have to wait. For now, uncovering the forgotten legacy of their kind had become their highest priority.
"We will depart soon. Wait for my contact," Erend said.
Three portals opened not long after, and the three of them disappeared from the cave.
