Chapter 783: A Step Too Late
After two days of turmoil, filled with anxiety, Gu Fan and Su Hui arrived at a farm in a very remote place overseas. On the surface, everything seemed calm, they could even see farm animals moving around, but there wasn’t a single person in sight.
This farm was merely a facade to conceal the research base underneath. Gu Fan remembered that the last time he was here, there were two farmers, who were naturally there merely for pretence, to alert them of any outside situations.
Gu Fan shouted repeatedly but received no response. He already had a bad premonition, but he still tried to stay calm and shouted again. In the end, having no other alternative, Gu Fan and Su Hui had to venture inside, while being careful of their surroundings.
Following the memories from last time, Gu Fan and Su Hui arrived at a warehouse. Surprisingly, the hidden door that led to the underground research base was wide open, implying the situation might be unfavorable.
Gu Fan and Su Hui exchanged a glance, and then cautiously approached the door. They could see that the light was still on, but the stairs leading down were empty.
After going down the stairs, Gu Fan and Su Hui took an elevator. They were about to truly enter the underground research base and face whatever might have transpired there.
Despite their preparation, when the elevator doors opened, both were taken aback. Just at the entrance, numerous bodies were strewn all over, blood everywhere. It appeared there had been a savage battle.
The further inside they went, the more bodies they saw in pools of blood. There were many bullet holes in the walls and items were thrown about chaotically. The scene was very disorderly.
Unsure if there was any danger left, Gu Fan and Su Hui were on high alert, prepared for battle, fearing something might suddenly jump out at them.
