Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared

Chapter 216 Serious Warning

Upon mention of risk, Zhuo Hang frowned, "The deeper we get into this investigation, the more we know, and the larger the threat we pose to them. That means we are their risk. Imagine what they would do to eliminate us."

After hearing this, Su Hui replied with a coy smile, "What’s wrong? You’re not scared, are you?"

"Scared? I have been a cop for so many years, and I’ve weathered all kinds of storms. When I took on this case, I knew what I was getting myself into." After speaking, Zhuo Hang looked directly at Su Hui, and said solemnly, "No matter what we discover, we will report it to our superiors immediately. Even if they try to remove us from the equation, our superiors will just bring in others to investigate. What I’m worried about now is the safety of some other people."

Su Hui’s expression changed, "You mean Gu Fan and the others?"

Zhuo Hang nodded, "Yes, many of the current leads were discovered by Gu Fan. This young man could pose even a bigger threat to that mysterious force than us. I’m afraid they may come after him."

"Yes, the risk is indeed higher. After all, Gu Fan does not possess the skills and ability to defend himself like I do," Su Hui said, lost in thought about minimizing everyone’s risks.

A secret investigation would reduce the risk by keeping the enemy in the dark about how much we actually know. Still, this didn’t guarantee safety as the adversary’s intelligence network was unimaginably vast.

Just as Su Hui felt her worries grow, Zhuo Hang came over, took her hand gently, and comfortingly said with a smile, "Don’t worry too much. We should do our best in our duties and leave the rest to fate. If fate has drawn Gu Fan and the others into this, there must be a reason."

Su Hui also smiled, laying her head on Zhuo Hang’s shoulder. Amidst the hard work and tremendous pressure, Su Hui found solace and peace in Zhuo Hang’s company.

After a while, Zhuo Hang escorted Su Hui back home, reminding her to rest. Su Hui agreed and obliged.

As she opened her door to a pitch-dark house, it was apparent that Gu Fan hadn’t returned yet. She dialled Gu Fan’s cell only to be met with silence. With no response after several tries, Su Hui’s gut told her that something was amiss.
