Chapter 58: Two Down
Adam hurried across the kitchen. Because of his increased senses and adrenaline-fueled state, the world appeared to slow down.
With a confused expression on his face, the assassin at the stove was simply turning his head. Half-lifted from the hot meat in the pan, he held a knife. He never got around to using it.
Adam stopped from hitting. He did not struggle. He threw himself into the air. With a forceful side kick, his leg snapped out. It was a subconscious act of violence, a move that originated from absorbed combat skills.
There was an awful crack as the toe of his shoe struck the side of the assassin’s head.
The force of the blow was immense far beyond what a seventeen-year-old boy should be able to generate.
The head of the assassin swung sideways. For a brief moment, his body flew into the air before crashing with the kitchen shelf next to the stove.
Plates and glass shattered on the floor as they rained down around him. Amid the shattered clay, he collapsed into an unconscious pile after sliding down the wall.
A victory.
Adam did not stop to look at his work of art. He spun around using the kick’s momentum. The person who had been at the table, the second assassin, was already responding.
The initial shock of seeing his pal’s gun fly across the room had passed. He worked as a professional. With his hands extended, he lunged at Adam with the intention of tackling him to death.
