Chapter 1557: Dramatic Family Feuds
After leaving the hospital, Alexander Shaw drove himself back to the company and didn’t go home with Isla Lane and Charlotte Shaw to get things.
Without his presence, the mother and daughter felt much more relaxed and at ease, whether talking or doing things, they felt incredibly free.
"Mom! Do you think Alice will remarry Benjamin?" Charlotte Shaw had been holding back this question the entire way, but because of her fear of her father’s authority, she only dared to ask now.
"Maybe not before, but now she certainly will," Isla Lane said with utmost confidence, as if the matter was already set in stone.
Charlotte knew exactly where her mother’s confidence came from; her brother risked his life to save his ex-wife today. Even if she wasn’t moved, she must have been shocked.
"Yeah." She nodded in agreement.
Isla Lane had made sound plans, but things were entirely different at the hospital with the three people there.
"What’s the deal with that woman? Why does she want you dead?" Benjamin Shaw experienced it firsthand; that woman attacked with both hands and feet ruthlessly, showing a clear intent to kill her.
If he hadn’t accidentally seen it, he really doesn’t know how severe the consequences would’ve been, consequences he couldn’t even imagine.
Who exactly is that woman? Why does she have such a deep hatred for her?
Alice Turner was just about to speak when Thomas Fisher jumped in first, "That woman was targeting Anthony, Alice just got caught up in it."
Speaking of this, Thomas was really angry, but didn’t know where to direct it. That genuine tomboy was quite pitiful too.
"Targeting Anthony? Did Anthony offend someone as soon as he came to Flame Country?" Benjamin was a bit surprised, as he knew Anthony grew up in Derry Kingdom and rarely returned to Flame Country.
How could he have made enemies in Flame Country?
Thomas gave a nonchalant explanation: "A melodramatic high society conflict!"
High society conflicts are nothing unusual; if there weren’t any, that would be the real anomaly.
"That woman wanted to kill Anthony, and you just happened to get in the way." Thomas’s explanation was simple, but Benjamin already understood the situation; as someone from a high society himself, he was used to seeing these kinds of conflicts.
Alice Turner nodded at Benjamin, indicating that he was right.
"Stay away from that Anthony guy in the future to avoid getting into situations like today again."
Thomas now deeply regretted not listening to Alice about picking her up. If he had gone to pick her up, she wouldn’t have been in such danger.
Benjamin agreed, nodding: "Yeah, stay away from that Anthony kid in the future."
Since it’s a conflict between high societies, it certainly won’t end easily.
If they didn’t succeed today, they would surely return another time.
"I’m going to resign when I get back."
Actually, Alice had decided to resign a couple of days ago, she just hadn’t said it yet.
After what happened today, she decided to move up the resignation date. She didn’t mind putting herself in danger, but she couldn’t let her family and friends get dragged into this.
Thomas had always hoped for Alice to resign, but he worried she’d be angry and upset, so he never urged her.
Hearing her seriously say she would resign when she got back, he couldn’t help but be overjoyed, his lips curling up, "I’ll go with you to Derry Kingdom."
