Novel The Max Level Hero has Returned!

Chapter 1427

Chapter 1427

The massive light vanished in an instant.

Neither Davey nor his future self with the mask bothered to speak up. They just sat still in silence like statues and waited.

Eventually, the original Davey said, “This happened before, right? And I won’t see you again, will I?”

“You shouldn’t,” his future self answered.

“Yeah. It’s probably for the best, because nothing good comes from being connected to you.”

Silence fell once more.

‘I don’t think I’ve ever been in a deep silence like this before...’

Uncomfortably basking in that suffocating feeling, they both waited with their eyes closed, not saying a word.

Willow had shattered Doomsday with her power.

Though a portion of it remained after the trio’s assault, it had been weakened enough for Davey to easily take care of. In order to take it down without him, the Willow of the other timeline must have sacrificed herself to protect everyone, including Darian.

Soon, the future Davey lightly launched himself toward where they were, snatching the scruffs of Evangeline and Darian who had been holding the stunned Willow tight for ages, not letting go. He then dragged the two away somewhere, treating them like a couple of burlap sacks.

Evangline shouted in surprise while being dragged along, “Ah! Dad?!”

“Time to go.”

“Already?!”

“Yep,” he said in a rather calm voice.

Evangeline looked like she had plenty to complain about, but in the end, she simply nodded and turned to say, “Willow... we’ll get going now.”

“Stay healthy, Sister.”

The words were warm, but the sight of them being dragged by their father really killed the wholesome and heartfelt vibe.

That was when it happened.

Willow, who had been sitting blankly, shouted, “Dad!!”

He stopped walking. “You’re... my dad, right?”

He responded with silence instead of an answer.

“I’m... I’m so sorry,” she quietly said, tears in her eyes. “I...”

Back still turned, he slowly called out, “Willow.”

Huh?

Seemingly calm, but with a hint of coldness in his tone, he continued, “Don’t you ever do something like that again.”

Willow lowered her head sadly.

“Living is the greatest thing a daughter can do for her parents.”

She didn't know what to say.

“Thanks for being alive.”

Ah...

Having said his piece, he headed toward a wide-open area. Then, instead of using the hands holding Darian and Evangeline, he raised one foot and kicked the air.

Crack!!

Space immediately shattered, and a rift opened up. Since the space-time axis was twisted, beyond that rift was likely a passage leading to their original timeline.

“Dad!!” Willow began before finally shooting up to shout, “Thank you, Dad!”

He didn't know how to respond.
