Chapter 1607 Han Ping’s Wedding 1
Hearing Feng Qingxue’s question, Han Ping’s dark, rough face turned a bit red.
"So you’ve gotten married?" Feng Qingxue teased him.
Han Ping coughed, embarrassed, and said, "Not yet, just got engaged. Since retiring, I’ve been busy with work. People introduced me to a few girls, but nothing worked out until early winter this year when I met someone. It didn’t take long before we decided to get engaged."
Feng Qingxue felt relieved, "That’s good, that’s good. She must be a very nice young lady."
Han Ping nodded vigorously, and the smile on his face indicated that Feng Qingxue was right.
Lu Jiang asked about his current job situation and learned that he was assigned to the local police station, with decent treatment all around. He was somewhat considered a cadre, and the girl he was engaged to was the niece of the police station chief, a nurse who didn’t require his mother to take care of the children, nor demanded a hefty bride price or lavish gifts, and had a rather good character.
When Feng Qingxue heard this, she immediately knew why the previous matches didn’t work out. One probably wanted Han Ping’s mother to take care of the kids, and another had excessively high demands for the bride price.
Although she didn’t know that Han Ping’s hometown was near Wucheng, Feng Qingxue was aware of his family situation.
He was a soldier from a rural background, with his mother living in the village, an older brother, and a younger brother, all married with children. A bunch of kids relied on his mother to look after them. During the years he was in the army, his brothers took care of their mother, and he could only send some living expenses, feeling guilty inside. Naturally, he didn’t want to trouble his aging mother with taking care of his own kids once he got married, and he might not be able to afford a high bride price.
"When is the wedding date set?" Lu Jiang asked.
