Qin Yan recognised the voice of her former president and replied back, "President Yan, hello, I’m Qin Yan."
"Qin Yan, hello, hello." Principal Yan tried very hard to make his voice sound more kind, but he didn’t expect it to backfire because he was trying too hard. Instead, he sounded shady.
"First of all, congratulations for getting a first rank on the college entrance examination. I intercepted your papers, and they were very good. Even our old professors at Beijing University are full of praise." President Yan continued, "Your score is a very rare event in the history. It is almost like a perfect score. Even saying you’re a genius wouldn’t be an exaggeration."
"You are too flattering," Qin Yan said sweetly. "I’m still young, so I shouldn’t accept such heavy praise."
"The more you say this, the more you deserve it," Principal Yan said with a smile. "I wonder what your school choices are? You didn’t apply to foreign schools, did you?" Principal Yan asked.
"No," Qin Yan replied in a well-mannered way. "Top universities in China aren’t inferior to those in foreign countries, so why should I go so far away?"
