Chapter 25 Becoming Sisters
"It’s okay, we Omegas have gone through that phase numerous times," Caroline said, her voice carrying care and concern.
I blinked nervously before swallowing. Lydia took the dirty dishes from me. "I can do it," I said, as I didn’t want to look like a freeloader.
"It’s okay, you don’t have to worry about that," she flashed me a smile.
My brows creased in confusion. "Why are you nice to me?" My question made her stop midway. She turned around, walking back to me.
I craned my head up to look at her, as I was sitting on a chair.
"Because you stood up for Lydia, it shows that you are brave and courageous, and you are worthy to be friends with." Her gaze softened as she continued. "Like you, we all are Omegas, except the head of the kitchen, who is a Beta. We all know how it feels to be bullied, to be in a situation where we cry for help but find none. And most of us try our best to steer clear of trouble, and most of us will go as far as ignoring our friends, strangers, when they are in danger," she walked closer, her gaze welling up.
"I lost my younger sister because, when she was being bullied, the werewolves around her—who are also Omegas like us—could not help her, so she died." A tear rolled down her cheek. Hearing her words, the other maids who were working stopped whatever they were doing, their gazes filled with sadness.
"I’m so sorry to hear about that," I gave my deepest consolation.
She shook her head slightly, wiping her tears away with her finger. "That’s why I’m very proud of you for saving my friend Caroline. You made me have hope that our kind has a little bit of consciousness in them. That’s why, from today on, you will be my close friend. In fact..." she paused. "You can call me big sister."
