Chapter 12 Punishment
Silence stretched in the hallway as my furious eyes locked with his annoyed ones, the tension in the air was so palpable. He released his grip over my hand before taking a step back. He nodded his head as if he could understand my turmoil.
My feet wobbled slightly, the cold howling through the hallway seeping into my bones. I wrapped my arms across my chest. His face turned cold, there wasn’t any trace of emotion in his eyes, it was as stern as rocks.
"Time for your punishment," he said, walking down the hallway.
I stared at his retreating figure, anger boiling in my veins. ’Did he think he can control me?’ I thought inwardly before following him.
After many turns, we arrived at a small house. My steps faltered as I wondered what the devil was brewing in his head.
He opened the door. Cough, cough. The dust spread through the air as I peeked to see what was inside, while covering my nose with my arms. My eyes widened in confusion. ’Has he gone nuts?’ I stared at him before returning my gaze to the bags of sacks that were staring back at me.
"Your punishment..." he drawled, his eyes glinting with mischief. "Is to count every single grain in this warehouse."
"What? Ar.. are you being serious right now?" My eyes widened, almost bulging out of their sockets.
"I never joke," he said before covering his nose.
