Time Travel: The Noble Family

Mr. Yu Shan picked up the brush and danced it across the canvas, then nodded to himself and said, "Good, truly good." He then burst into laughter and said, "Such a rare masterpiece, I must drink wildly."

Yueyao was dumbfounded. Although she did not have a great talent in poetry, her literary foundation wasn’t bad, and her knowledge was fairly wide. Yet, she could barely recognize half of Mr. Yu Shan’s characters, and even the ones she did recognize were mostly guesses.

Mr. Yu Shan, however, was very proud, stroking his beard and smiling with his eyes wide as he said to the bemused Yueyao, "Why don’t you stamp your seal on it?" Such a good painting definitely needed its creator’s name stamped on it.

Yueyao couldn’t help but say, "The seal is in the house; I didn’t bring it out." It was common practice to stamp one’s seal on good paintings as a means of authentication.

Mr. Yu Shan said, "Then first write your pseudonym, and later you can stamp your seal above your name." Mr. Yu Shan had plans for this painting.

Following Mr. Yu Shan’s words, Yueyao wrote her pseudonym on the painting and then, looking at the characters on it, asked, "Master, what style of writing is this? I’ve never seen it before?"

Mr. Yu Shan, stroking his beard proudly, replied, "This is a script I created myself, called the ’Yu Shan Script.’ How do you like it?" This was Mr. Yu Shan’s greatest pride.

Yueyao opened her mouth and finally said sincerely, "Master, the writing is beautiful, but I can’t recognize many of the characters." The writing was too sloppy to understand.

Mr. Yu Shan laughed heartily and didn’t explain what exactly he had written, but asked Yueyao to fetch her seal to stamp on the artwork.

Mr. Yu Shan did not return the painting to Yueyao but said, "This painting will stay with me for now. I will return it to you after some time."
