Chapter 210
Adam walked back towards the village. His mother Rachel was beside him. Anastasia walked on his other side, silent and withdrawn.
"Ana, are you alright?" Rachel asked, her voice gentle.
Anastasia ignored her mother completely. She just stared straight ahead and kept walking. Rachel sighed and smiled sadly. She looked at Adam. "She is your older sister. You should not let her words bother you."
Adam did not look at her. He kept his eyes forward. "I don’t care what she thinks," he said, his voice flat. "And I don’t care what you think."
He walked past his own house and continued down a different path. He was not interested in family drama. He needed information.
He extended a hand slightly and released a subtle pulse of his magical power. It spread through the entire village in an instant, an invisible net of perception.
The results confirmed his earlier suspicions. The people here were physically powerful, incredibly so. Their bodies were dense with a raw, kinetic energy. But there was no magic. No one was using mana. This was strange. Adam knew that almost everyone in this world used mana in some way.
He probed deeper with his senses. He could feel the latent magical power within each villager. It was there, a dormant pool of energy inside every one of them. But it was completely sealed off. When his senses touched their magical cores, it was like finding a locked box.
The light of their magic was contained, sealed away so tightly it was as if it didn’t exist at all. This village was a mystery, a place of immense physical power and suppressed magical potential. Adam needed to understand why.
He realized these people had compensated for their lack of magic with raw physical power.
Adam walked back to the quiet meadow he had found earlier. He sat down under the large tree. He had sensed a threat to Anastasia, his new sister. It was an intent coming from her father.
That was why Adam had gone back to save her. He did not know why, but this new body felt a strange urge to protect her.
