Chapter 209: Ricky Defeated
Ricky stood across the clearing, his bare chest glistening with sweat and his gaze fixated on Adam. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, he vanished. He did not flee; instead, he vanished in one place and reappeared others.
Anastasia gave a gasp. She had only seen her father move with such horrifying speed twice before: once when a monster beast rushed his hunting team in the deep jungle, and again years ago when a challenger from inside the community dared to question his right to be chief.
This was his serious speed, the one he utilized when lives were at stake.
But Adam did not flinch. His expression was serene, even bored. His eyes followed Ricky’s movements precisely. He could see him.
Ricky appeared squarely in front of him, his palm already falling, a tremendous chop targeted at Adam’s shoulder, a hit designed to incapacitate and send him to the ground in a single, decisive movement.
However, the strike never landed. As Ricky’s hand was ready to make contact, Adam moved. He bowed one knee and lowered his center of gravity. As Ricky’s arm dropped, Adam grabbed it with both hands.
He did not attempt to block the force. He absorbed it. In one perfect, seamless motion, he utilized Ricky’s momentum against him. He spun, turned his body, and used the force of his father’s blow to flip the bigger man over his shoulder.
It was the ideal throw. Ricky, who weighed 100 pounds more than him, was thrown flying through the air, his life turned upside down. He hit the earth with a hefty, bone-jarring thump.
Adam had not even had to use his own power. He had merely deflected Ricky’s massive attack, using his father’s own strength against him.
Ricky thought the world had gone nuts. He moved at full speed, confident that the youngster would not be able to detect his attack. He wanted to strike Adam’s shoulder with a fast, devastating punch, knocking him to the ground and teaching him a terrible lesson. He had imagined the entire event in his thoughts.
However, as he arrived before Adam and his hand descended, something unexpected occurred. His strike was stopped mid-swing. Before he could grasp what was going on, his view became a swirl of earth and sky.
The next thing he knew, he was on his back, looking up at Adam’s feet. He, the village’s most formidable warrior, had slaughtered innumerable magical animals with his bare hands and was now lying on the ground, defeated by a method he had never seen before.
