Chapter 313: Outcome
Elena watched them use their abilities as they moved like something out of a sci-fi movie.
It was beautiful—but deadly.
She studied them closely, judging their current level by how well they controlled their powers.
From what she saw, most of them had improved a lot.
Their movements were cleaner and more precise as they unleashed their individual abilities.
’Maybe it’s time to guide them into advanced training,’ she thought, fully absorbed in evaluating them.
She still had many techniques that could push them even further.
It was just that she hadn’t had the time lately, busy taking care of the triplets.
"What are you thinking?" Ethan asked as he used his shadow tentacles to retrieve the core from the ground.
"Nothing, just watching them," Elena replied.
Ethan raised a brow, clearly unconvinced.
"Well... I was thinking about how to improve their abilities. By the way, you did a good job training them."
"They are naturals, since most of them come from the military. The only problem is the non-military personnel, but they learn quickly," Ethan said thoughtfully.
The kids, along with the non-military personnel, needed much more training.
Because of that, he made sure to train them hard every day so they could get used to their newfound powers.
With their determination, along with the knowledge Elena had passed on to him about abilities, they gradually adapted.
Now, they only needed a few adjustments to use their powers more efficiently.
Hearing his calm evaluation, Elena did not press further. Instead, she took out the head of the other alien from her [Inventory].
"Please take the core from this alien too."
It was too troublesome to handle the ugly head herself.
The dark blood was disgusting, and since her husband had a cleaner way to deal with it, letting him handle it was clearly the better choice.
Ethan only smiled and nodded before quickly bringing over a comfortable chair for her.
"Alright, just sit here. I’ll handle the cleanup."
Ethan quickly busied himself, taking care of the alien remains while Elena sat quietly in the corner, observing the damage left after the battle.
The once vibrant mini-forest had become deserted, with broken trees scattered everywhere and the dead bodies of mutated animals covering the ground.
In just a few hours, everything had changed.
Soon, dead energy would begin to linger in this area, turning the place into a deadly zone—unless they completely burned away the black blood of the mutated pests and aliens, as it was highly toxic. Only then would the area be safe.
She then slowly turned her gaze toward Ethan, remembering something from their past.
’If only he had that ability, this would have been easy to handle. Alas, for now, they just have to adapt and find other ways.’
Feeling someone staring at him so intently, Ethan looked back and saw his wife lost in thought again.
"You’re definitely thinking about something." He gave a small huff. "Hmmp, it’s been a while since we’ve been alone together. Should we visit the cottage by the lake later?"
As he spoke, he casually flexed his well-toned muscles while commanding his shadows to rummage through the alien remains.
Elena rolled her eyes and quickly avoided the question.
"I’m thinking about the babies. We’ve been gone for hours already. Tsk, go finish the cleanup. I want to snuggle with them as soon as possible."
Hearing her reply, Ethan felt slightly defeated.
Ever since their sons were born, they had become her absolute priority, leaving him with far less attention.
But what else could he do?
Their sons would go on a full rampage if they realized their mother was not by their side.
Sigh.
For now, he could only accept it.
"Hmmp... What should we do with their toxic blood? It seems contaminated. Even the ground is turning dark just from being near the black blood. Will burning eradicate it?"
"Normal fire won’t do. It needs a high-tier fire ability. Let’s burn the dead mutated pest bodies and ignore the black blood."
Although the mutated pests were not as toxic as the aliens, their corpses could still speed up the corruption of the area.
Since they still needed to live around here until they could evacuate to the main base, it was best to handle what they could.
"Alright, here are the cores I gathered from both aliens," Ethan said, handing her the clean, sparkling gemstones.
Then his expression turned serious.
"Now that the aliens are expanding, this area might be compromised soon. I’m afraid it’s only a matter of time before they invade. We have to leave soon."
Ethan’s conclusion was firm. They were no longer truly safe here, and only he and Elena could handle enemies of that level.
"I agree. Let’s discuss it with General Kaiser and let the military decide on a proper plan together. We can’t keep waiting for the rescue team from the main base anymore," Elena replied, agreeing immediately.
As she looked around at the mutated beasts gathering near the area, unease rose in her heart.
She feared a beast tide would erupt soon.
The mini-forest created by baby Max had already depleted much of its spiritual energy.
Soon, those mutated creatures would mark the military centre as a source of food.
"Okay, I’ll talk to them later," Ethan replied before taking gasoline to burn the mutated bodies.
Not long after, everyone finally arrived at Elena’s resting spot, panting heavily after dealing with the remaining mutated creatures.
Unfortunately, they were only tierless beasts, and no cores were found from them.
Elena then looked at everyone and greeted them with approval for their first true team battle.
Though some had injuries, none were fatal.
"Good job, everyone. I was surprised to see how well you handled yourselves against the mutated creatures."
"Sigh... the tierless ones are easy enough to deal with. It’s just that there are too many of them. The real threat is those aliens—they’re far too powerful for us," Lydia said with a tired sigh.
Elena chuckled softly, seeing Lydia puffing with frustration, glaring at the battlefield yet still filled with determination.
"If you see one, run. Don’t try to hunt them until you’re strong enough to stand against them."
Her voice became calm but serious.
"In the near future, they will be our true enemy. Now that you’ve encountered them, I hope you’ll train hard enough. I don’t want to lose any of my friends because of these aliens."
Everyone nodded. Today’s battle had shaken them deeply.
After witnessing the strength of those aliens, they understood clearly—they were the true apex predators of this apocalypse.
Elena continued, giving them tips on how to preserve spiritual energy and use external objects to help channel their abilities more efficiently.
Her goal was simple.
She needed them to grow stronger—and fast since the aliens were evolving too quickly.
She and Ethan could not fight everything alone. She needed her team to be able to stand beside them.
After a few hours of training, Elena finally decided to call it a day, seeing how exhausted everyone had become.
One by one, they entered the space, leaving only Ethan and Elena standing on the battlefield, quietly observing the surroundings before following them.
And the moment they stepped inside, they were greeted by the happy cooing of the triplets.
Elena hurried toward the living room, and there she saw three Poochi clones jumping rhythmically, entertaining the now excited triplets.
