Chapter 1033: Section 658: The Madness After the Year 2000 (Part 2)_3
"I’m curious, wasn’t he assassinated while he was in New Hangzhou?" Malin asked.
"He was attacked but didn’t die. The assailant wasn’t caught either. Later, the Union police found out that guy named Karn had issues. Apparently, he’s a member of some secret society. But since there’s no evidence, he was transferred here." Peru answered.
"What about you? I remember you were staying in an apartment in New Carterburg. How did you end up here?" Malin crossed his legs, thinking this was a question worth digging into.
"My direct superior was transferred here to investigate Karn’s case, and I was personally requested to come along. He said something about ’Miss Peru Haus Hagelberry is skillful in tactics, proficient in work, and my best assistant.’ Does he have any idea how much I detest the climate in South Asia? Damn Mumbai, it’s unbearably hot." The young princess of the Hagelberry family openly expressed her disdain for summer.
"Karn Wood Spencer—does he really only have this one case?" Malin looked at the young lady.
"He has plenty of issues. The most serious case involves the death of a high-ranking undercover agent nearly ten years ago, and he might be related. But we have no evidence."
"Marlay." Malin said.
Peru glanced around, ensuring her teammates were on guard and no one overheard, then nodded: "Yes, Marlay—or more precisely, Hill Gaiate...my cousin."
"He has a child. You should know about his existence, but if you don’t, it’s better not to." Malin finished speaking and looked at the young woman. She froze for a moment, then nodded somewhat reluctantly: "I understand. Thank you for the warning."
