Chapter 942: Section 619: Transmission
After dinner, Malin intended to take Marshal Constantine to see the Carterburg Army’s training progress; half a day had passed and the trainers already had firsthand reports that these soldiers believed firmly in the defense of their nation, which was a good thing.
However, the misfortune was that apart from belief, they had nothing. In the eyes of the trainers, these soldiers required comprehensive transformation.
This was bad news, but Malin thought it to be good as well—these shortcomings revealed earlier meant that after training by his instructors, the sweat these soldiers shed would spare them some blood.
Nevertheless, a message from Jason made Malin give up on the afternoon’s plans—a window of about six hours appeared in the Oslo Region as the year-round snowfall finally ceased. Malin apologized to His Excellency the Marshal and had Tuojin Spencer take over his duties—this political officer was presently the prime candidate for the chief policy position, the old soldier was no longer involved, and Tuojin was the most convincing presence among the political officers.
His bravery, fearlessness, and loyalty were beyond reproach.
Marshal Constantine cautiously welcomed the decision for Malin’s political officer Tuojin Spencer to take over the afternoon’s live combat training.
Malin had no choice but to tell His Excellency the Marshal that Tuojin was the best choice next to himself before leaving the command post.
Arriving at the Northern Base via the transportation passage, Aps had already transformed it into a brand-new factory, with mechanical bodies being manufactured daily. Greeting Malin, Aps expressed some concern upon learning about Malin’s trip to the North’s Oslo: "It’s very dangerous, my mechanical scout team went missing while searching in that area, and the following search bees also lost their signal. Very dangerous, Mr. Malin."
"No worries, I have to go there, because, after a long time from now, my daughter will head there to find something, and I must help her clear some monsters," Malin said as he opened the weapons crate that had been delivered earlier.
"Then you’ll certainly need help. Let me assist," Aps said.
"But your body is organic, Aps," Malin looked at the youngster: "Don’t worry, I have Jason."
"Yes, leave it to me." Jason had specially crafted a set of mechanical armor for this mission, similarly sized to Malin’s miniaturized body but sufficiently armed—such as thermal blades that could slide out from his forearms, two 40mm grenade launchers with six rounds ready, capable of handling two light laser emitters, while his legs could transform into blades, and the eight spare modules on his waist could be used as Warhammers or activated as grenades. The deadliest part of this armor was a heavy-duty rapid-firing laser emitter mounted between the legs, equipped with six cooling barrels. With the eight spare modules, the two mounted on the back, plus the natural cooling environment of Oslo, this machine was capable of relentless firing for half an hour.
