Chapter 146
Betrayed by Blood
Kendra’s heart pounded in her chest as the circle of women closed in around her, their faces twisted with rage and cruel satisfaction.
Talia stood at the center of it all, her smirk cold and merciless. "You’re not so high and mighty now, are you, Kendra?"
Before Kendra could react, the first blow landed—a sharp, brutal punch to her ribs that knocked the air from her lungs. Then another. And another. Fists, knees, and kicks rained down on her body.
Someone yanked her hair, dragging her head back to expose her neck, only for another fist to collide with her jaw. She tried to curl into herself, protect her ribs, her face—anything—but there was no mercy in their rage.
"You didn’t think you were better than us, did you? That you were the queen bee. Now what, huh? What?" one woman snarled, driving her knee into Kendra’s stomach. Kendra gasped, bile rising in her throat.
Her body was kicked, punched, and stomped on, dragged across the cold, filthy floor like discarded trash. Blood dripped from her mouth, staining her teeth red as her vision blurred, spots appearing.
Kendra tried to scream, but her voice broke in her throat—a pitiful rasp that no one heard.
One last brutal kick to her ribs had Kendra collapsing completely, her body limp and broken. The world spun violently, and the last thing she saw was the gates being opened and the prison guards rushing in.
