Chapter 134
Betrayed by Blood~
Avery managed to jerk her arms free, knocking a maid away as she scrambled to her feet. She was covered in dirt and sweat, blood dripping from her nose, but she refused to give in.
But before she could fight back any further, the unmistakable sound of heavy footsteps rang out.
Kendra’s gaze snapped towards Cain, and she quickly straightened up, ready to speak, but he pushed past her without a single glance. Her jaw locked hard at the way he ignored her. She quickly let go of the annoyance she just felt and rushed into the stable.
"What the fuck is going on here?" Cain growled out, his voice cutting through the air with authority. His eyes scanned the chaotic scene, first landing on the struggling maids, and then flicking to Avery—bloodied and bruised, her clothes torn, and her hair wild. His gaze narrowed as he took in the sight.
Kendra quickly stepped forward, trying to speak before anyone else could. "Oh my god, Cain, I can’t believe this!" Kendra exclaimed, her voice dripping with faux innocence as she gestured toward Avery. She started it all! But even I couldn’t get her to stop. She acted like a wild animal. I’ve never seen such razz and deplorable attitude." Kendra paused for a second, her eyes striking Cain’s gaze to Avery.
Cain’s eyes were on Avery. She was a mess—her hair wild, her cheek red and swelling, a smear of blood on her nose. Her clothes were torn, her hands scratched up from fighting back.
Kendra rolled her eyes internally and stepped closer. She flipped her hair over her shoulder, smoothing her expression into one of forced concern. "Cain," she began, her voice soft and sweet. "I can’t believe this... Avery just lost control. She started attacking the others out of nowhere. Even I couldn’t get her to stop."
The maids, now visibly shaken, quickly nodded in agreement, some of them avoiding Cain’s gaze. The one who had attacked Avery first stepped forward. "Alpha, I only asked her to complete her chores, but she went on to insult every one of us, including Lady Kendra who wasn’t even here." She paused for a second to look at Avery. "We couldn’t take it. She crossed a line."
