Chapter 405: EPILOGUE III
They selected a horror movie and watched it while having popcorn. A blanket was draped over their legs.
Sophie had to control her laughter when she saw Marissa holding a pillow to her chest. Her eyes were wide like Abigail’s while watching the movie.
Sophie chuckled and tossed popcorn into her mouth, "Oh, come on. You said you could handle it. It’s just a movie. Horror was your idea," she teased. Her voice was laced with playfulness.
She tried pinching Marissa’s arm, but her friend slapped her hand away. Sophie giggled. She was getting this movie night chance after such a long time that she wasn’t in the mood to let it get ruined.
Marissa gestured at the screen as this eerie music started playing, "There was supposed to be more suspense. But his dead body is there every time in literally every scene. Urgh," she groaned in annoyance.
"Don’t go in there. Please," Sophie muttered half to herself and half to the female lead of the movie, her eyes glued to the screen.
"She’s definitely going in there," Marissa whispered back, her voice laced with dread, "I don’t know what they even think when they make such movies."
As the dead body again appeared on the screen, both of them screamed at the top of their lungs. Marissa this time buried her face in the pillow while Sophie’s popcorn flew into the air.
Suddenly they both burst into laughter, but then they had to press their palms to their lips to suppress the noise.
The walls were soundproof, but they couldn’t take risks with young children.
"This is ridiculous," Marissa reached out for spilled popcorn, "Beer?" she asked Sophie when the movie was paused.
