Chapter 301 - Stolen kiss
"Wait a minute."
One of the healers suddenly hurried over to Nansich and placed something small in his hand. It looked like a tiny tablet.
"Swallow this."
Nansich stared at it suspiciously. "What is it?"
"We don’t have time to explain. Just swallow it."
Nansich reluctantly tossed it into his mouth and dry-swallowed it. The bitterness immediately stuck to the back of his throat.
His face twisted. "What the fuck was that?!"
"An oxygen tablet."
"What?!"
Before Nansich could complain any further, the healer grabbed him by the arm and quickly pulled him toward the healing tank. A set of retractable ladders suddenly extended from the side of the enormous chamber.
Nansich stared at them. "What the hell do you want me to do? Climb in there?"
"Yes! Please hurry! We don’t have much time. We need to hurry!"
"Okay, okay!"
Nansich grumbled but climbed onto the ladder.
The moment he lowered himself into the chamber, cold liquid surged around his body. The sudden change in temperature made him stumble slightly, and he grabbed the edge of the ladder to steady himself.
"Damn, that’s cold..."
Taking a deep breath, he slowly lowered himself farther until the glowing blue-golden liquid covered his entire body.
For a moment, he panicked.
Then he realized he could still breathe.
Nansich blinked beneath the liquid.
Maybe that was what the oxygen tablet was for...
At least the strange alien medicine actually worked.
He continued descending until he reached Dican.
The prince’s pale face was now only a short distance away from his own. His blond hair floated gently around his face, making him look strangely peaceful despite the condition he was in.
Nansich stared at him for a moment before looking toward the healers outside the chamber.
"What now?"
He couldn’t speak underwater, so he mouthed the words while shrugging helplessly.
"Hold him!"
Nansich frowned. "What?"
The healers immediately began gesturing. "Hug him!"
Several of them demonstrated the motion with their arms. they even hugged each other gazing at him hopefully.
Nansich stared at them as if they had gone completely insane.
Then he looked down at the unconscious prince.
"You seriously want me to hug him?"
The healers nodded urgently.
With a resigned grunt, Nansich reached forward and loosely wrapped his arms around Dican.
"Is this okay?" He mouthed the words toward the glass.
The healers immediately checked the readings.
Their eyes widened.
Then several of them exchanged excited looks and nodded.
"Tighter! Tighter!"
One of them shouted through the glass.
Nansich’s eyebrow twitched.
"Seriously?"
He looked down at the man in his arms.
Even while floating in the liquid, Dican was taller than him by at least a head. Nansich gritted his teeth and tightened his arms around him until their bodies were pressed closely together.
The change in the readings was immediate.
The frantic lines on the healer’s screens began to settle.
The unstable energy surrounding Dican slowly started to calm, and his dangerously low readings began climbing back toward normal.
The healers outside the chamber erupted into relieved excitement.
"It worked!"
"His levels are stabilizing!"
"The abnormal readings are going down!"
"He’s responding!"
Nansich could only stare at them through the glass.
He couldn’t understand what was so exciting about this.
He was just hugging some guy.
Yet the healers were practically celebrating.
One of them stared at the readings in disbelief.
"It’s really working..." He looked toward the prince consort standing outside before lowering his voice. "Why didn’t it work when the prince consort tried?"
The head healer said nothing.
His eyes moved slowly between the readings and the two figures suspended inside the healing chamber.
It really was strange.
The mate bond was supposed to have a powerful effect on Farians. A mate’s presence should naturally calm their body and stabilize their energy.
But Bian’s presence had done the exact opposite.
The head healer’s eyes narrowed slightly.
Could there have been a mistake...?
His gaze settled on Nansich.
Could this one actually be the real mate?
The thought flashed through his mind, but he immediately pushed it away.
He didn’t dare say it aloud.
This was the royal family.
A simple mistake like that could cost him his life.
So he kept his thoughts to himself and continued monitoring the new readings, carefully recording every change.
Meanwhile, Nansich watched the healers outside as they celebrated and scribbled down numbers.
His expression was completely dull.
He couldn’t understand why everyone was so excited.
The only thing he could think about was the person currently trapped in his arms.
This guy isn’t soft at all.
Nansich frowned.
The prince’s muscles were rock hard beneath his arms, and hugging him felt nothing like what Nansich preferred.
He liked soft types. The kind of men who melted against him when he hugged them. Preferably shorter than him too.
This guy was practically a human wall.
Nansich rolled his eyes and slowly looked upward.
The man in his arms had opened his eyes.
Those shimmering green-blue eyes stared directly down at him.
Before he could even react, Dican’s arms suddenly moved.
They wrapped tightly around Nansich’s back like a pair of vice grips, pulling him firmly against his chest.
Nansich’s eyes widened. What the hell?!
His eyes widened as the prince’s face suddenly moved toward his.
"Mm—wait!"
He tried to push against Dican’s chest, but the strange liquid made everything awkward and slow.
Before he could properly get away, Dican’s lips pressed against his.
He froze. His entire body went stiff. For a few seconds, his mind simply stopped working.
What the hell is happening?!
Nansich’s hands desperately pushed against his chest.
But then the strange pain in his chest returned, stronger than before, and for some reason, his body refused to move the way his mind wanted it to.
Then Dican slowly pulled away.
His forehead rested against Nansich’s, his eyes opening again.
Those green-blue eyes looked at him with such intense familiarity that Nansich’s heart skipped.
Dican’s lips moved. "You..."
Nansich blinked. And then his brain finally caught up.
His face turned red with anger. "You bastard!"
His fist shot forward.
Bam!
His punch landed directly against Dican’s face.
Dican’s head jerked to the side, and his grip finally loosened.
Nansich immediately took the opportunity.
He pushed himself away, kicking against the bottom of the healing chamber and swimming toward the ladder as fast as he could.
"What the hell was that?!"
He climbed out of the tank, grabbed the nearest towel, and wrapped it around himself while glaring furiously at Dican.
"You don’t just kiss people!"
The healers outside stared at him in stunned silence.
Nansich pointed angrily toward the tank.
"I don’t care if he’s a prince! I don’t care if he’s my supposed mate! He can’t just do whatever he wants!"
He quickly turned his head away, his ears still burning.
Behind him, Dican remained inside the glowing liquid.
His fingers slowly touched his own lips.
For some reason, the place where Nansich had kissed him still felt warm.
And for the first time since waking, there was a faint trace of confusion in his eyes.
He looked at Nansich’s back.
"It really is you..."
