The Fake Son Wants to Live [BL]

Chapter 298 - No clue

Nansich, who was left more confused than ever by Bian’s sudden visit, eventually decided that there was no point in thinking about it anymore. If Bian wanted to act strangely, then let him. Nansich had enough problems without trying to figure out what went on inside that man’s head.

Still, the strange feeling refused to leave him.

After walking through the long corridors of the castle, Nansich finally reached the neat little room where Jian was staying. He raised his hand and knocked on the door.

A few moments later, it opened, and Jian appeared on the other side with a small smile.

"I thought you were going to hit the sack?"

"Yeah, I was planning to... before Bian came to visit me."

Jian’s smile disappeared instantly. "He came to visit you?" He opened the door wider and stepped aside, allowing Nansich to walk in. "Why?"

"No clue." Nansich shrugged as he entered. "He just came there, said he was sorry about stuff, and then left with his cape swishing behind him like some dramatic princess."

Jian gawked at him. "what? Why?"

Nansich casually walked over to the bed and dropped onto it. The moment his body sank into the soft mattress, his eyes widened. "Whoa." He bounced once experimentally before looking at Jian. "Why is your bed much better? Can I steal this room?"

"Focus, Nansich." Jian walked over and lightly slapped his forehead with his palm. "Did he say anything else?"

Nansich blinked and rubbed his forehead. "Dunno. He was acting all weirdly nice." He thought about it for a moment before shrugging again. "I think he changed a lot."

Jian let out a tired sigh and sat down beside him. "He will never change." His voice was much more serious now. "I think he’s trying to pull a pitiful act again. Don’t fall for it this time."

Nansich innocently raised one hand. "When have I ever fallen for his acts?"

Jian slowly turned his head toward him. "Yeah? You haven’t?" His brow rose in obvious disbelief. "Don’t you remember the time you almost attacked me because Bian told you to?"

Nansich’s expression immediately turned awkward. "I was young and dumb."

"You were an idiot."

"I said young and dumb."

"You were both."

Nansich sighed and pushed himself up into a sitting position. "But he really didn’t order me to do anything back then."

Jian gave him a look. "But he did cry miserably in front of you, right?"

Nansich opened his mouth, then paused. A thoughtful expression slowly filled his face. "He... did."

"Exactly." Jian pointed at him. "And he’s trying to do the same thing again. I’m not sure what he wants this time, but he will definitely try his best to hurt the people close to me."

His fingers slowly clenched the sheets beneath him. "Like he did with my grandpa. I...I thought he would be safe here. I thought bringing him back to Gia meant he would finally be safe, but that bastard..." His jaw tightened. "I don’t know what Bian did to him. I don’t even know where he is. He just disappeared."

For a moment, Nansich didn’t say anything. He simply reached over and gently patted Jian’s back. "Maybe he’s not involved in this."

Jian looked at him. "He is always involved in everything."

There was a tiredness in his voice now rather than anger. It was obvious that the missing grandfather was still weighing heavily on him.

"Nansich, don’t be dumb. Use your brain, please." He sighed and rubbed his forehead. "You’re the second prince’s mate now. Whether you like it or not, that mate bond is there. And Bian might try to hurt you because of it."

"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" Nansich immediately shot upright. "Who said I agreed to that?" His eyes widened as if Jian had just accused him of committing a crime. "I’m not that guy’s mate or anything. Tsk. I don’t want to marry him."

Jian stared at him for a moment. Then his eyes narrowed with interest. "You acted like you knew him, though."

Nansich’s expression became slightly awkward. He climbed off the bed and started pacing around the room, his hands shoved into his pockets. "I saved him once."

"That’s it?"

"That’s it."

"What else happened between you two?"

"Nothing happened between us." Nansich turned around and looked at Jian. "Truth be honest, I don’t even remember what happened. It was that insignificant."

Jian raised an eyebrow.

Nansich walked closer and lowered his voice as if he were sharing a very serious secret. "Why does he think I’m his mate, anyway?" He pointed at his own head. "Is he... not completely there?"

Jian stared at him. "I mean, he was acting really weird."

Nansich waved his hand dismissively. "I saved him once, sure, but that doesn’t mean he gets to suddenly decide I’m his soulmate or whatever the hell Farians call it."

Jian couldn’t help but chuckle at that. "Soulmate?"

"You know what I mean." Nansich dropped back onto the bed with another sigh.

Jian shook his head before lying down beside him. "I’m not sure either. I don’t know Dican personally." He paused before adding, "But Xing Yu does. He’s his best friend, so he went to see him."

Nansich’s head turned slightly. "Where is he?"

"In the infirmary." Jian glanced at him. "Do you want to go see him?"

Nansich immediately shook his head. "Nope."

His answer came so quickly that Jian almost laughed.

"You can gladly go see your brother. I’m not getting involved."

Jian stared at him for a few seconds. "You’re not even a little curious?"

"No."

"Not even wondering why he thinks you’re his mate?"

"Nope."

"You don’t want to know why he remembers you after five years?"

Nansich hesitated.

Only for a second.

Then he quickly looked away.

"Still nope."

Jian’s lips curled into a knowing smile.

"Liar."

Nansich glared at him.

"I am not."

"You totally are."

"I said I’m not!"

Jian laughed as Nansich grabbed one of the pillows and threw it straight at his face.

"Shut up."
