Chapter 1312: Where Did You Go
Thinking of this, he directly raised his voice and asked Mu Qiancheng, "Didn’t you just come back? Then where are you going now?"
"Buying something to eat for your sister."
Mu Qiancheng’s voice drifted over from a distance, and Shangguan Wenbin suspected he’d heard wrong. Just as he was about to go back to his own office, he turned his head and saw the light on in Jiang Xue’s office.
Connecting it with what Mu Qiancheng had just said, Shangguan Wenbin couldn’t help getting excited. He wondered if Jiang Xue might be in her office.
Thinking that, he walked toward Jiang Xue’s office. The office door was slightly ajar; Mu Qiancheng hadn’t shut it completely when he left.
Shangguan Wenbin gave it a gentle push and the door opened. He stuck his head in and glanced around. When he saw Jiang Xue leaning lightly against the sofa as if she’d fallen asleep, his heart leapt and he shouted, "Sis!"
Jiang Xue, who had been resting with her eyes closed, immediately opened them when she heard Shangguan Wenbin’s voice and looked over. When she saw him poking his head in at the door, she couldn’t help but laugh and said, "Come in."
Shangguan Wenbin pushed the door open and walked in, then stood in front of Jiang Xue and looked her over carefully before finally asking, "Sis, where did you run off to before? We’ve been looking for you for a long time."
"I’m sorry, something happened before and I made you all worry. But you’re fine now."
"Really?" Shangguan Wenbin clearly didn’t quite buy it; he’d watched the security footage earlier—Jiang Xue had been stabbed and lost a lot of blood.
"Of course it’s true. You think I’d lie to you?" Jiang Xue laughed, patted the spot beside her, and said, "If you’ve got something to say, sit down and talk."
Shangguan Wenbin sat down, then looked Jiang Xue over again. Seeing how pale her face was, he felt a stab of pain and said, "Sis, you’re hurt and you lost blood. Tomorrow I’ll have someone stew something to build your blood back up."
"Okay!" Jiang Xue didn’t turn down Shangguan Wenbin’s kindness. Besides, there really wouldn’t be any need for him to worry about it when the time came; her family would make sure everything was done properly.
After all, she hadn’t been home for quite a while. If she still didn’t go back tomorrow, the elders in the family would worry themselves sick.
"Then it’s settled. I’ll make a call in a bit and order it, then have them deliver it to the company." Shangguan Wenbin rather anxiously pulled out his phone, and was just about to dial when Jiang Xue stopped him.
"Sis?" Shangguan Wenbin looked at Jiang Xue, puzzled, not understanding why she wouldn’t let him make the call. They’d just agreed, so how had she changed her mind in the blink of an eye?
"Wenbin, I’m going home tomorrow. And I probably won’t be able to come into the office for a few days, so I won’t get to eat what you order."
Hearing this, Shangguan Wenbin felt a bit annoyed with himself. He hadn’t even thought of that. And he was the one who’d called home today, after all.
If Jiang Xue still didn’t show up tomorrow, there’d be no way to keep it from the family.
Jiang Xue and Shangguan Wenbin were in the middle of talking about handing over work when Mu Qiancheng came back carrying food. Seeing Shangguan Wenbin and Jiang Xue sitting together, he wasn’t surprised.
However, he did interrupt their conversation and said, "Xue’er, I bought you some congee. Have some first to tide you over. When you go home tomorrow, I’ll stew some soup to nourish you."
Jiang Xue smiled, took the congee Mu Qiancheng had bought, and started eating. She hadn’t had anything for over ten hours and was truly starving. She finished the bowl of congee in just a few bites.
