Chapter 586: Dare Not Come Up
The first dizziness caused the Water Monster to be greatly startled. Watching another pebble fly over, it dodged while angrily roaring at Jiang Xue.
"Sister, the monster is angry!" the little boy, seeing the Water Monster’s roaring demeanor, felt somewhat scared.
"Don’t worry, it won’t dare to come up!" Jiang Xue comforted the little boy, then raised the slingshot again, gesturing towards the Water Monster.
The little boy looked at Mu Qiancheng, still in the water, and worriedly asked, "Will it hurt big brother again?"
"Don’t worry, it won’t dare!" Jiang Xue looked at the Water Monster, which, though angry, targeted her, and it hadn’t harmed Mu Qiancheng, so she was relieved.
Moreover, as long as the Water Monster dared to harm Mu Qiancheng, the slingshot in her hand was not to be trifled with. However, the Water Monster kept watching her, which displeased her, so she launched another pebble with a swoosh.
The Water Monster watched, its expression changed, then it fiercely glared at Jiang Xue before sinking back into the water.
Without the Water Monster’s obstruction, Mu Qiancheng quickly swam to the shore and was pulled up with the combined efforts of Jiang Xue and the little boy.
"Little friend, thank you!" Finally on shore, Jiang Xue and Mu Qiancheng thanked the little boy.
"No need to thank me. Sister, you and big brother should hurry home, don’t catch a cold." The little boy smiled and put the slingshot back into his pocket.
"Okay, we got it. You should head home too. Don’t come here again until the Water Monster is dealt with, then you can bring your brother to play."
"I got it, sister!" nodded the little boy, then turned to leave.
Jiang Xue and Mu Qiancheng stood on the shore, looked at the tranquil lake surface, exchanged a glance, and felt a sense of surviving a disaster.
"Let’s head back first!" Mu Qiancheng said to Jiang Xue. The elders are not here, they should have gone home. They haven’t come up, and are probably grieving at home right now.
"Okay, let’s go home!" Jiang Xue nodded. As for the Water Monster in the lake, it would have to wait until next time to deal with. She hadn’t thought of a solution yet, and she couldn’t fight it alone, so it had to wait for the future.
Though, if they used guns, it might not be a problem. But those above might not agree; after all, bullets are precious.
Moreover, targeting this thing underwater with a gun isn’t easy.
Jiang Xue and Mu Qiancheng, wearing soaked clothes, left the park and headed home. Upon reaching the park’s gate, several staff members looked at them as if they had seen ghosts.
The two ignored the peculiar looks from those people and left the park, heading home.
Meanwhile, at home, several elders hadn’t eaten, nor had they prepared any food. Shangguan Wenbin observed everyone had no appetite to cook, so he drove to a nearby restaurant and brought back some packed meals.
In fact, the elders were hungry, but the thought that Jiang Xue and Mu Qiancheng had likely met misfortune, possibly already perished, quelled their appetites.
Shangguan Wenbin watched as the elders refused to eat and couldn’t help but persuade, "Grandma, in-laws, Uncle Jiang, Aunt Jiang, you should eat something. Otherwise, elder sister and brother-in-law would worry."
"It’s actually a good thing if they worry," replied Father Jiang. If they can worry, it means they are still alive. But now, are they even alive?
Not to mention others, even they couldn’t believe it. Half an hour, half an hour without any news, staying underwater for so long, without oxygen, with a monster, how could anyone survive?
