Chapter 181 Parents’ Panic
Mrs. Jiang had just finished speaking when Father Jiang continued, saying, "Xue’er, your mom is right. We’re happy that you’re thinking of us when you plan to buy a house. But, you don’t have to say that it’s for us, after all, you’ve already married out."
"Moreover, speaking of it, we have wronged you. Because of me, you had to quit school. That essentially ruined your future, and we’re guilty about that. The fact that you can still spend money on my surgery is enough for me."
Listening to her father’s guilty words and seeing his remorseful face, Jiang Xue also felt a pang of discomfort in her heart. Originally, she mentioned buying a house to cheer up the two elders and to divert their attention.
Who knew that as the conversation progressed, it would make them feel even guiltier. She really shouldn’t have done it, and felt unfilial.
So, Jiang Xue raised her head, looked at her parents, and said, "Dad, Mom, how can you say such things? Yes, I dropped out of school because of Dad. But didn’t you find me a good husband, a good family to marry into?"
"Even if that doesn’t count, you raised me up with great care. Bringing me up to this age, how can your nurturing love not be worth more than a house?"
Jiang Xue’s words made Father Jiang’s heart skip a beat, and he felt a bit flustered. He glanced at Mrs. Jiang before looking at Jiang Xue’s face, thinking to himself: Could it be that she found out something?
Mrs. Jiang, just like Father Jiang, was flustered upon hearing Jiang Xue’s words. She wasn’t as composed as Father Jiang and directly asked, "Xue’er, what do you mean by that?"
"Mom, what’s wrong?" Jiang Xue was a bit puzzled as she looked at Mrs. Jiang. The words she said didn’t seem to have any issues, so why did Mrs. Jiang’s expression look a bit off?
"No, nothing!" Mrs. Jiang awkwardly turned her face away, not daring to look at Jiang Xue, with a guilty expression.
Jiang Xue, seeing Mrs. Jiang like this, though a bit baffled, didn’t overthink it. Noticing it was getting late, she stood up and said, "Dad, Mom, I’ll go get some food."
