Chapter 267: A farewell
"Because I thought you were imitating my sister. She is a famous person. People in the entertainment circle know her name. She is famous. For someone to be so similar to her, is that too much of a coincidence? I started wondering that when I saw how close you and Dr. Warner were,’’ Veronica shook her head, ’’But then a few incidents happened. Especially the wine incident. Had it been my sister, she would not have retorted to me in public or been so bold. So, I realized that your personalities are different. If you were to imitate her then you would have imitated her personality as well.’’
Diana rolled her eyes, ’’Your mind is more creative than mine. I don’t even know your sister.’’
’’I figured that later,’’ Veronica fell quiet for a few minutes before she mustered her courage to drop the bomb, ’’But the same can’t be said about Dr. Warner. He knew her and now he knows you. It’s impossible for him to not notice the similarities between you two. Everyone in my sister’s friend circle knows how involved she was with a doctor before she eventually broke up with him due to her busy schedule.’’
Diana fell silent.
Veronica sighed, ’’Look, I am not trying to upset you or drive a wedge between you two. But things are obvious. Unlike before, I think you are not that bad. A woman like you doesn’t deserve to be someone’s replacement in a man’s life,’’ Although she tried to keep her voice down, Veronica felt like her words were still grating on her ears.
Yet, since she had decided to come clean with Diana, she did not want to hold back on such a piece of information just for fear of offending her.
From her observation, Maxim did specially treat Diana but given the way things were, what were the chances that he was taking Diana as a stand-in for his ex-girlfriend?
When Veronica thought that Diana would lose her temper on her, Diana surprised her by laughing instead.
’’You... Are you traumatized? Don’t worry. You can take a counseling session while we are at it. Dr. Warner is good but he is not the only fish in the sea,’’ Veronica panicked when Diana laughed till she was clutching her stomach. She had seen such cases where trauma made people crazy within a moment. Had she known that Diana was so attached to Maxim, she would have chosen her words carefully. Fuck! What did she do?
