Crashing into an Old Flame

Chapter 40: Line

Diana’s confusion disappeared when she saw his face zooming closer to hers.

Her breath hitched when Maxim raised his other hand, pressing his thumb on her lips before he... kissed his finger, the only thing that separated his lips from hers.

’Thump’

’Thump’

’Thump’

As she watched his eyes fluttering close, the sound of her rapid heartbeats echoed in her own ears.

Her system was malfunctioning. What in the world was she being so nervous for?

She concluded it was because of all the adventure-inducing things she has done in the past hour. And secondly, this was the first time a man has been this close to her.

Luckily, it was Maxim or she might have fainted due to trepidation. She told herself.

’’Oh my god, kids these days... They are not patient at all. Let’s not disturb them for now,’’ In the background, Hazel sounded embarrassed but Diana could trace the obvious glee in her voice. They had almost approached them at some point so it was not hard to eavesdrop on their conversation, ’’Where do you live, Aunty?"

’’You don’t need to bother. You already helped me...’’ Diana heard her grandmother speak and she slowly looked from above Maxim’s shoulder, noticing both the women walking away towards their car.
