The Villianess story: A 100 ways to kill your husband

Chapter 310: She is his alone

The morning court came to an end, and Eleanor left immediately, not wanting to spend a second close to that bastard. "I will take my leave now, Your Majesty." She excused herself. Kaiden nodded and she fled.

The king sighed at her withdrawal. He knew it was all a game but never expected her to step down. That wasn’t the woman he was married to. The battle for the crown has always been a dangerous one. It was a battle for power which should not get into some hands. Kaiden thought as his eyes were going to the culprit; he was certain He was behind Eleanor’s unexpected move.

Cedric was completely not bothered like it truly didn’t matter to him. He was speaking with a minister. His expression was unreadable, with a calm demeanour. The calmer Cedric is, the more dangerous he gets.

Eleanor was followed by her train of ladies in waiting. Lucian, seeing his mother’s exit, followed suit. He knew something was off, and he was going to get answers. The priestess followed behind him naturally.

The doors closed, and his voice rang. "Mother," he called out, making Eleanor stop in her tracks. She glanced behind her, her eyes meeting his curious gold eyes. If Lucian knew the kind of person his mother was he would be disappointed.

Lucian and Bernice were alike; they had a strong sense of duty. Their personalities mirrored Kaiden’s. Lucian caught up with his mother looking very concerned. "What happened?" He asked.

"It’s a misunderstanding. Just as I said Abrielle didn’t do it." She explained. She was exhausted and wanted to get to her chambers to vent.

"I know, mother. I know Astrid did." Lucian’s voice dropped very low only Eleanor could hear. Her eyes went wide, her tongue-tied. "But why..."

"I know you wanted to make a move to get the Nightshade against Cedric. I didn’t pay attention because of what Cedric did to Astrid. I know it is wrong but he ruined her honour, almost taking her life. There were other ways to play the game but he chose otherwise. What I don’t understand is why you backed out?" Eleanor was not expecting this, she didn’t know Lucian had this side of him.
