Chapter 294: Their wishes
Alfonso led Abrielle through a shortcut back to the square, she was not familiar with any of the roads in the city yet she chose to trust him
The music got louder the further they walked through unconventional routes that would seem eerie on a regular night, but because it was the festival, the entire city was lit up. No one would do anything stupid close to Alfonso.
Soon, they arrived at the main road; the music and cheers were very loud, appearing from a narrow street; Alfonso and Abrielle immediately mixed with the crowd that stood at the side of the main road watching the parade.
"Wow, it’s so beautiful," she heard a little girl chime; she was sitting on an older man’s shoulder, which Abrielle guessed was her father from their uncanny resemblance. The girl was excited, pointing out different performances; one made the girl squeal out in excitement.
It was a lady dancing with loops that were on fire, Abrielle was even stunned at the sight. The performer’s dance was rather seductive and very skilled.
"Father, I want to be a dancer like her," the girl naively chimed in, making her father chuckle at her words. Another lady stood by their side carrying a younger boy who was asleep, face twisted at her words.
"How can you wish to do something so dangerous and shameful? She is dressed too seductively. A proper lady won’t want that life." The mother reprimanded the girl with a stern voice and the girl almost burst into tears if not for her mother’s eyes telling her. If you cry I will give you a better reason to cry.
The exchange was hilarious. Abrielle could not help but laugh, and reluctantly, she turned her attention back to the performance. Alfonso watched her every reaction, how her eyes sparkled when she saw something exciting or how they softened at an exchange similar to the small family.
The parade was beautiful; there were even some magicians, who were mages that performed low-tier spells for entertainment. Only a few possess magic in this world, so to common folks, these little spells were a great sight.
