Chapter 194: She isn’t jealous
The room was lit by candles; the sun had already set, and it was dark outside. In a large dining room that could host a large number only two were seated at the table
At first glance, it seemed like they were having a pleasant meal. Well, at least Alfonso was enjoying his meal, but the same could not be said about Abrielle.
"If your intentions are to make me feel jealous. You have failed greatly at that, Cedric is more than free to take in a mistress or wife. If a princess deems herself low enough to be a second wife, who am I to stop her? I guess you might not understand me since your mother was a princess comfortable with the thought of being the third wife." It was an obvious Jab.
This would have offended Alfonso but he found it amusing. She was a bit ticked off by his earlier statement. The more she acted, the more she didn’t care about proof she did. He laughed off, his eyes were a bit dead.
His assumption of Abrielle’s and Cedric’s relationship was not how it seemed. It was clear Cedric favoured Callista more than Abrielle, and from how hesitant she was about marriage at first, it was safe to assume this was a completely loveless marriage.
There is a chance things were not that way. Did she start to develop feelings after being married for months but still act like she didn’t care? Whatever was the case it didn’t matter to him.
He has come across women who were head over heels for their husbands, but yet there was always a crack. It took 2 to love and Cedric didn’t seem like he was going to acknowledge Abrielle’s feelings soon.
Alfonso’s reasoning was influenced by his prejudice. He didn’t want to see a scenario where they loved each other for selfish reasons. He knows that just like other royal marriages in public they are forced to put a front that they care about each other.
"Only a few women would accept that. Cedric must be a lucky man to have such an accepting wife." He chimed, not sounding offended. Abrielle pouted she was not expecting this reaction.
