The Villianess story: A 100 ways to kill your husband

Chapter 145: Welcoming banquet

There was an artificial food shortage, according to how Cedric would describe it. This was due to the season and the sorcerers; while investigating the sorcerers, a plague that had been ravaging some parts of the kingdom that majorly dealt with farming towns was linked to their stored food.

The food was contaminated, making it unfit to consume. Left with no choice, tons of dried grains were destroyed in the middle of winter.

The food shortage was getting serious and there was an expected hike in the price of the available ones. This would obviously cause a serious problem, so to solve it, the king decided to import from a neighbouring kingdom.

Diplomats from the Kingdom were invited to the palace, and a welcoming feast hosted by the royal Family was organized. Abrielle had no choice but to be present.

In the original plot, this also happened, only that it wasn’t this early, but after the winter prayers, despite the slight change in the event, Abrielle knew it was going to be a hell of a banquet, and she really didn’t want to be at the palace.

Her carriage arrived at the main entrance of the Silver Crescent palace and the door was pulled open. Evelyn gave her hand to the princess to slowly alight the carriage. Abrielle was wearing a green dress which had some intricate gold designs along the hems.

It was deliberately chosen to match Cedric’s outfit. From outside the palace was rather Vibrant and she knew the banquet was about to start.

She was led inside the palace heading for the grande dining room. It was a bit sarcastic that a grand feast was going to be held to invite diplomats for negotiations to solve an impending food crisis.

"Abrielle," she heard someone call out for her; it was her least-liked brother-in-law. Alfonso approached Abrielle with a bright smile; it was hard to even imagine that what happened earlier was true. He was looking rather dashing, with his hair nearly combined and he was wearing a red outfit.

"Alfonso," Abrielle chimed with a forced smile; why did she always run into him whenever she was visiting the palace for an event? He took Abrielle’s hand and placed a soft kiss on it. She didn’t necessarily feel his lips on her skin because of the gloves she had on. "You look as stunning as ever, I really do wish I was Cedric each time I see you," Alfonso said sweetly, like a seasoned playboy.

Evelyn had to step back to give the members of the royal family some privacy. "You don’t have to act so sweet; I won’t tell anyone of the incident that happened earlier." Abrielle chirped in a low voice. A soft smile was on Alfonso’s lips.
