Chapter 128: Lady of the household
"I am glad you did." Lucian chimed. The sound of glass shattering on the floor drew everyone to look at Callista who was completely embarrassed. The wine glass are was using had slipped from her fingers.
"I am very sorry my fingers slipped." She blurted while shaking. Lucian immediately got up from his seat to her side to move her from the shards while the maids came over to clean up the mess. "Are you alright?" Lucian asked, and she slowly nodded, glancing at Cedric.
He didn’t seem the least worried although his gaze was in her direction. "Try being careful; that cup is pretty expensive. That aside, you scared Abrielle. She isn’t used to shock." Cedric said coldly. Abrielle’s frown deepened. Why was he being cold to Callista today? Why was she being dragged into this matter?
"It’s okay; everyone has slippery hands," Abrielle mentioned, placing her free hand on Cedric’s without realizing it. Cedric stiffened by that single action. Finally knowing what she did, she tried to retract her hand but he quickly held her hands.
"Thank you for inviting us, I hope you won’t mind. I would like to take my leave now. I am not feeling so well. Please have a safe recovery, Your Highness." Callista quickly said then ran out of the room. Lucian gave Cedric a tired look before slightly bowing and leaving.
’ What just happened now?’ stunned Abrielle asked herself. Cedric got up from his seat the screeched against the marble flooring as he rose. "I will send them out, just finish your meal." He informed her; he leaned in about to place a peck on her forehead but changed his mind and tucked her hair behind her ears instead before leaving the room.
Just like that Abrielle was the only one left in the room having her meal. She had yet to ask Cedric about the budget allocation. The soft clicking sounds of her cutleries and crockeries echoed in the large dining room.

The doors of the study creaked open, drawing her attention to Cedric, who just stepped in. It has been over an hour since he left the dining room. Abrielle didn’t question him and quickly averted her eyes.
