The Villianess story: A 100 ways to kill your husband

Chapter 123: More hope and prayers

The door creaked open followed by subtle footsteps. Cedric and a few maids came into the room to drop off the food and clothes he had asked for. They were quiet so as not to wake Abrielle and dared not glance at the bed.

They quickly finished their task and then left the room. As soon as the bedroom doors were closed, Cedric leaned next to the door and listened to their footsteps, trying to eavesdrop on their conversations until they were finally out.

Lucky for the maids, they kept their mouths shut, which saved them despite having no idea about the prince’s good hearing abilities. He walked over to the bed to pull off the gold mask on his face.

It was quite tiring to always cover his face, it was a decision he took a long time ago. If Eleanor knew after attempting to scar him, it failed because of his healing abilities, she would be super pissed. Only the goddess knew what that queen would do once she got a whiff of the news. Astrid wanted to force herself on him. He never understood that girl’s obsession with his face.

He pulled off the covers on Abrielle, who curled into a ball missing the warmth around her. Nervously gulping down he quickly dressed her with the night dress sent over.

Cedric waited that night for her to wake up later, but she was too exhausted. She slept till the next morning. He could not bring himself to sleep that night.

The window rattled as a cold breeze that smelled like ice flew inside the room, putting off the fireplace. Abrielle curled into the ball, scouting over to a nearby source of warmth and cuddling it.

She was too busy enjoying her sleep she didn’t question who or what it was. The window continued to rattle; there was a snowstorm outside, and Cedric wanted to close the window to stop the wind from coming in, seeing how she was freezing and that the thick covers were not enough.

The problem was that she was clinging onto him, making it hard for him to leave the bed. He was worried she would catch a cold since she slept with her hair damp. So far she didn’t seem to have a fever. "It’s so cold." She grumbled, trying to get more comfortable.

"Why the hell did the maids leave the windows open?" Abrielle continued to complain. Cedric released a long breath before his calm voice spoke from her side. "Maybe if you stop clinging I can go close them."
